Does anyone know how to fix the black spots that are coming on my roof?

CanadianBird 04-21-2014 12:05 AM

All I can offer is to use a Clay Bar on it.

Clay bar, buff and wax is what I would try.

if that doesnt work then either repaint or get black vinyl to black out your roof.

Sunburnt? Blistering is when the sun destroys your clear and it flakes.

I've never heard the terminology "Sunburnt Paint!" Is it possible what you're seeing is primer where the paint on your roof has been worn thru? You can try clay and waxing but you could be wasting your time! Repaint may be one of your options besides ignoring the situation...Gary

I fail to see the issue from the picture. If there is "oxidation" from the sun, use a rubbing compound like Meguiars ultimate compound followed by a good wax. If its flaky or peeling it needs a repaint.

I moved to Pacific beach in San Diego and it seems the ocean air here is unforgiving to my car.

i'm having major paint oxidation and sun burn.
What steps do i need to take to fix this?

Read 2 posts above this. Then wax.

Anyone ever tried that product called "AcrylicWerkz"? It has alot of Youtube videos showing paint damages & this stuff somehow made it almost new.

idk...I'm thinking a repaint is in order. The sun is very unforgiving in Fl and repainting typically is the solution

Get new paint. Haha

I'm from central Florida and have a black '05. I started to notice the spoiler lost its luster and there was nothing I could do about it because it was added on after the fact and a poor job was done. Then the roof really started to get affected. Looked like really bad flaking skin after a sun burn. I opted out of a repaint and went with a full exterior restoration. Still in the process and going to cost a pretty penny but I feel it's worth it.
I'm going to add a question. The best car cover would be?
I'll be wanting to use one once the restoration is done since my garage is still a work in progress.

Research Covercraft covers. They are custom fit for your car and are nicely made. Don't settle for universal covers. I went with Covercraft Evolution cover for my G while it sits outside during my deployments.

Anything ending in z is probably crap. Did Billy Mays promote it?

Wow, mine is an 05' and it's parked in the South Texas Sun 5 days a week for 10 months a year. I have waxed it maybe three times, never had a problem like that.
