Major props for the Optimum line
 

Ok so this isn't about a G35 but it could be for our G. I recently did an extensive exterior detail on my GTO using all Optimum products. I have used Optimum No Rinse for years with much success so it's no surprise I love all of their products, especially some relatively new ones. Our cars live outside 24/7 in a coastal town so the elements aren't kind to their exteriors. The Goat's paint has been in pristine condition all of it's life so I finally decided to do something epic to it to make sure that lasts. I have used a variety of lines over the years including Zaino, Menzerna/Jescar, Wolfgang, Meguiars, Natty's etc. But Optimum chemically designs a lot of their products to cross link and bond together to increase ease of use and also to make the final results stronger and more durable. They are also hydrophobic so they repel water and other moisture.

I've lusted over getting the Goat coated in one of the new polymer coatings that last for more than a couple of years with routine washing as the only maintenance needed. Their Opti-Coat and OC Pro lines are only available through authorized detail businesses and not to the average Joe. But they make a consumer version called Gloss Coat now so I decided to go down that route. I started with the typical wash and clay to prep the paint for the heavy hitters. Total time spent was a little over 14 hours spread out over a 2 week period due to inclement weather. I used Optimum stuff in this order:

1. Optimum No Rinse Wash and Wax
2. Opti-Coat Primer Polish (only available to authorized businesses but I was fortunate to have some donated to my project)
3. Gloss Coat
4. Opti-Seal
5. Hyper Seal

The OCPP is a mildly abrasive polish that can remove light to medium swirls and spiderwebbing when used with a proper polisher and pads. It also removes any oils and other chemicals non-Optimum products leave behind. The GC is their consumer version of Opti-Coat and needs an hour after application before anything else is put on top if it. It also takes 7 days to completely cure. The OS is a spray sealant that adds some slickness and gloss, it can be applied to the GC an hour after application to protect it while it finishes curing. And finally HS is like the OS on steroids. You use less than a half ounce to coat the entire car and can be added to the ONR wash process as a drying aid. The amazing part of all of this is their products are super easy to use with most being a wipe/spray on and remove process. Pics to follow and are w/o the HS, it came in a week after I was done. The gloss and slickness the HS added are off the chain!! Pics were taken in mostly cloudy conditions, in full sun the shine is almost blinding. :eek:
