recommendation needed!! best wax for my ivory pearl coupe

hey guys i have a ivory pearl coupe i wanna wax her myself

i used to use turtle wax carnuba wax ( simple common crap)
and my friend once used 3m hand glaze on my hood which worked well!!!

btw ne1 have an opinions or info on hand glaze...what exactly is it?

what item do you guys recommend me to buy to wax my car

im looking to get a hard deep glossy shine that lasts long

i have swirl marks from my old detailing so i need a wax that will cover those up too..

ebuy929 02-03-2006 07:22 PM

i learned:

carnuba type cax: hard shine . little lifespan

synthetic Paint Sealants, (sealers) : long life span, little shine

im lazy so id go with the sealent but how good is the shine will it really be glossy or will it suck. ?

can i put carnuba wax on top of a sealer, without damaging my paint. ?

recommended brands?

A glaze is a glaze - they have fillers which fill swirls for a short time. Waxes can go over them no problem as can most sealants. Some sealants don't like bonding over products with a lot of oil content which glazes have, though.

If you want to run out and buy something off the shelft that will HIDE the scratches and give some protection, Meguiars NXT Wax will do just that. Be warned that after a few washes or some rain the scratches will be back as the oils that filled the scratches are washed away.

In my opinion, you are better off to spend some more time and correct the situation. Use a quality swirl remover (several to select from) then follow that with a polish. After that, put on a sealant or wax. If you properly prepare the surface, the product that you pick as a final step is not all that important. The prep is important. As far as sealants go, I like Poorboy's EX and EX-P. For canubas, I like P2, PB Natty's, and Pinnacle Souveran.

The 3M hand glaze works well at filling swirl marks espically on darker colors. On my black Tahoe I used the glaze then went over with 3M Perfect-It Show Car paste wax. It left an amazing shine. Dont let the glaze dry on the car or you will wear your elbows out trying to get it back off. The glaze is what car dealers use to make used cars shiney and new looking untill you get the car home and wash it. thats why you need to go over it with the wax. I buy all of my 3M stuff at the 3M website. Its cheaper there than in the stores.

When I had a light colored car, I used Poorboy's Natty's Paste Wax, Meguiar's Gold Class (new formula), or Meguiar's #26 Mirror Glaze, since they were easy to buff and had decent durability. For a great shine, but less durability, I used Pinnacle Paste Glaze.

You should try a swirl remover your swirls out, before you polish / wax. Try Four Star Ultimate Swirl Mark Remover. Wolfgang also makes some good products. Worked well when I tested it on my previous car.

Two step process that you can do in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
1. Menzerna FMJ amazing shine and durability
2. P21S Carnauba Wax maximum depth and gloss

I love both these products and feel they apply/remove super easy. Looks so amazing after your done and well worth the effort.

BadBoy06 02-15-2006 01:36 PM

16 oz. Menzerna Final Polish II
One Microfiber Applicator Pad
One Multi-purpose, Microfiber Cloth (for buffing Final Polish)
8 oz. Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax
16 oz. Pinnacle Crystal Mist
Two Perfect Shine Cloths for buffing Souveran and Crystal Mist

These will get you some NICE results!

Meguiar's hands down...I have an IP coupe and I've been very pleased.

GeeWillikers 02-17-2006 11:05 PM

Try Zymol or Mother's Pure Carnuba. Great shine and durability.

I used a can of the Menzerna and it did a great job, but it wasn't twice the product of Mother's or Zymol and it cost over twice as much.
