Driver's side Door lock malfunction/no function

Hi guys,
The automatic door lock on my '03 Coupe does not work anymore. I think I need a new door lock actuator. I've done a search already. I'd like to know what the recommendations are from the locals. I'm thinking about getting the part from the dealership but I'm not confident about changing it myself. Is there anyone in the area with experience and is willing to help out. I'll reimburse you for your time. Thanks for reading.

I've replaced actuators on other cars but not the G. It shouldn't be too much different. If you have access to the G35 Service Manual, it pretty much breaks down the disassembly and assembly of the door...

I remember reading a post previously about someone who bought a generic actuator for like $5 from an auto parts store and modifying it for use on the G35 instead of getting raped by the dealership.

The actuator on my 03 coupe has been out for like 2 years, I just kinda learned to live with it.

Thanks for info...

Moog, I did read about the $5 thing too when I was searching. I don't think I'm knowledgeable enough to attempt it myself. It's annoying to have auto doors with keyless entry and having to use the key to lock/unlock everytime. I can't imagine doing it for 2 years. :) I might call the dealership and see what it'll cost...I'm thinking close to $350?

Anyway, thank you guys for the information. Hopefully there's someone in the area who can help. :icon43:

I'm good friend of a mechanic that has his own shop in Irving. PM me. It will probably be way cheaper than the dealership. You can get a quote from Grubbs or somewhere else and compare it with this guy. Luder (aka: Andy) can vouch for this guy.
