Engine won't start
So today the inevitable happened, my car with 130,000 miles wouldn't start. Battery is good. Tank is full.
After I reset the ECU, it did start. But I think it was a coincidence. I then turn off the car, it doesn't start back up. It will start up intermittently. I don't know. I'll try cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor tomorrow, but I fear that it is something more. Maybe the starter is beginning to give out? Fuel pump is starting to go? ECU is dying? Any other ideas? |
At 130k miles I would check the codes, but my best guesst is the cam sensors.

Well, seems it was something to do with the NATS system. Somehow the immobilizer system got into lock mode, don't know why. From the service manual.
2. ESCAPE FROM LOCK MODE 1. Turn ignition switch OFF. 2. Turn ignition switch ON with registered key. (Do not start engine.) Wait 5 seconds. 3. Return the key to OFF position. Wait 5 seconds. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice (total of three cycles). 5. Start the engine. Does engine start? Yes >> System is OK (Now system is escaped from “LOCK MODE”). No >> GO TO 3. Fires right up now. |
good info, thanks
