Went to the Strip Last Night, Good Results
Hey guys, went out to Dragway 42 last night and did a few runs with the four door. I'm happy to say that all were quick, with one being a best time.
I will post the slips up later since I am at work right now, but here is a summary of the runs: EDIT: Here are pics, slips, and some videos! I went with a few people including my friend with the black TBSS in the pictures below. His best time of the night was a 13.23@102.XX. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...two003EDIT.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo005.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...two012EDIT.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo013.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo009.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo010.jpg Run-1: Still Warm out, so not the best conditions. The DA was 1453. Raced a big 3500 Ram that appeared stock (ran like it too). 2.19 60' 6.1460 330' 9.3612 @ 75.73 1/8th mi 12.0670 1000' 14.3768 @ 99.35 1/4mi Run-2: The air cooled down a little bit, and the car cooled down, best run of the night, and a best time. Ran a modded S2000 with an intake, exhaust, test-pipe, and a CF trunk. VERY sweet car. Sounded great. He fell asleep at the light and spun a lot. 2.15 60' 6.0618 330' 9.2507 @ 76.45 1/8th mi 11.9370 1000' 14.2306 @ 99.86 1/4mi Pic of the S2000: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...two007EDIT.jpg Run-3: Best air of the night, but I hit the rev limiter going from second to third. 2.15 60' 6.0859 330' 9.2890 @ 75.99 1/8th mi 11.9908 1000' 14.3047 @ 98.70 1/4mi I am very happy with the results. The DA ranged between 1450 and 884 from the first run to the last, and the launch pad was okay, so I was able to get some decent times. I think the last run would have been the fastest of the night, but I was disappointed to hit the rev limiter. I really wanted to get to a 100mph trap. In perfect DA, I would be very close to a 13.9 which is exciting. Here are pics of the slips and my car with the number for proof: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo017.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo018.jpg Pic of all of the runs: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...timetwo023.jpg Run-1: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...Run-1MARKS.jpg Run-2: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...Run-2MARKS.jpg Run-3: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...Run-3MARKS.jpg |
Looked like run 3 wouldve been fastest if you hadnt hit the rev limiter..but good runs.

Really nice runs, especially in that DA. What's your launch and shift technique? Any future mods? I really need to get back out to the strip this fall as well. I'd really like to get a 14.1@100mph or even a 14.2. My overall goal is a 13.9.
As for the tranny, it will be fine assuming you change the fluid often. Last year I did a full drain and I'm doing tranny drains (~3.5QTs) annually. It's a bite overkill, but autos live a lot longer with fresh fluid. |
Nice runs! I bet that base sedan is 50-100lbs lighter than the rest of us

Nice runs. Its so weird seeing cloth seats on a G.

However, I am holding out for a Motordyne intake, if it ever becomes available, as well as the MREV3 I have been hearing about. Test pipes would be nice too, but this is all money I am not sure I want to dump into a rapidly againg car. The fluid has not been changed since the 60k service, so I suppose I should get around to doing something about that. I was planning on changing it between 110 and 120k per the service program's recommendation. I would love to change the fluid out myself, but I do not have the resources nor do I want to be slightly off in how much fluid I put back in. I'm sure it'll be fine, but we'll see. It's not like I tq brake every stop light around town.

I tq brake it to about 1500, for some reason the one run I did from 1750 did not net me a better 60 foot time. I put it in tiptronic, and leave it in "2" from the start so it will shift for itself then I upshift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. I try to shift from 2nd to 3rd at about 6500, and 3rd to 4th at about 6600. The 14.3 run was with a messed up 2nd to 3rd shift.

I'll have to try that out next time at the strip. I usually tq brake to around 2200-2300rpm and tend to get mid 2.1s. I shift the same way, but I hold 3rd the entire run and usually tap the limiter right around the finish.
? I've never heard of talk about this. As for the MREV3, there as some mention of it in the exhaust/intake section. It's in the back pages of one of the Motordyne exhaust threads. |
