VIDEO: 1/4 Mile @ Auto Club Dragway- Coupe's, Sedans, Nismo 370Z, Altima & More

First of, big thanks to Importroller (Shawn) for taking video for us! :JAMIN:

Please keep in mind that this is a high(er) elevation track and times will be effected.

It was an overall fun day of getting to drag race at the track and hang around a bunch of real car guys.

It was Silencer_0's (Black coupe) and SDGenius' (Red Sedan) first time at the track and did very well. :14:

12 hours at the track with a total of 4-5 runs.

My best run of the night was my last run right before closing.

60- 2.172
330- 6.038
1/8- 9.151
MPH- 79.36
1000- 11.809
1/4- 14.065
MPH- 99.77

It sucks that Youtube is blocked out here, sounded like fun though.

OCG35 Dec 5, 2010 09:24 AM

^^^ 4 of those hours were prior to racing...

Nice vids Jairen - too bad no one got my 14.04 redemption to the 3.3 second wheel spin at the beginning :icon17:

SDGenius Dec 5, 2010 12:47 PM

DA conditions at Fontana weren't horrible yesterday. It was about 1,800' DA conditions and this is factoring in the 1,500' elevation of the track. The track is clearly a slower track and it's interesting to compare what others at running at quick tracks like Cecil with the same mods. The difference in MPH between similarly modded cars is on the order 6mph+. That suggests a 70whp+ difference for conditions. No way in hell. It just proves the wild differences between running at different strips across this nation.

I trapped at 105 with just an exhaust and test pipes at Sacramento Raceway.

Now that I'm tuned with a couple more bolt-on's, I run 99-100mph at Fontana.

Goes to show the difference in elevation tracks.

Nice video, the cars look great out there... very cool seeing a bunch of G's on the track!

A minute of track time in 12 hours kills it for me though... is that typical at the strip? Last time I went drag racing was probably 15 years ago, and from what I remember, I got a lot more runs in a lot less time.

Come on out for a little drag race next time! would love to see your G perform at the track even though it's set up for the road course. With all your mods and engine work, you car would probably do pretty good!

I got 16 in 5hrs:D I know how it is I used to live there. I had to leave my house by 330am to make it to wait in line at 6am. I don't miss it, but I do miss hanging out with the regulars.

What sucks is half your time is tech over here tech lasts only 5 mins they don't check anything except lugnuts.

I would love to go... but like I said, I can't handle sitting around for 12 hours to get 5, 14 sec passes. I can hardly stand the wait on the road course days, and that's an 8 hour day, with about 2 hours of track time :bowrofl:

From the video, it definitely looks like fun though!

yep. Plus track prep was horrid all day! In the morning just after they sent two test mules down the track it started drizzling and they had to quick prep again - no less than 6 cars broke down on the track (mostly Hondas:rolleyes:) not only causing delays for clean up and re-prep but also mucking up conditions...

For some reason the left lane had everyone (other than awd) spinning like crazy! If you look at the very first run of the vid I spun more than any time I've raced (3.3 60 ft)... I was at 7K and didnt move until I completely let off throttle - and cruised down track at 65-70... in the right lane however, I did more typical 2.1+ and ran 14.04 (uncommonly low trap speed though).

It was a real weird day for just about everyone - Vlad's 370Z was running odd ET & trap too... not to mention he was in left lane when I ran 14.0 and he spun like crazy 2.3+ and ran a 14.3 (typically 13.7-13.8 on decent runs).

It's too bad this is the only 1/4 in So Cal. I will see it's WAY better than the old LACR though.

12 hours is uncommon... but 3-4 runs is not. Races start at 9:00, usually you can get 3-4 by 2:00-3:00... the long day comes from getting there real early (before the track even opens), which isn't a must, but ppl usually do. And there were an uncommon number of break-downs...

I have no idea why the call it "Street Legals" anymore - because it definitely is NOT. In the old days all cars were sound, and breakdowns were rare.

But since they run in groups, there is 1-2 hours between runs, so it's like a mini-meet in the pits... better than car shows imo. It's a good time, you should bring the RareJDM boys one of these days
