This 6-speed manual sedan spooled up to 60 mile-per-hour in a quick 5.3 seconds. The quarter-mile pass ended in 13.7 seconds at 103 miles-per-hour. That's a tenth quicker to 60 mph than was the slightly lighter 335i coupe, an advantage the sedan held through the quarter-mile (13.5 seconds at 106 mph). |

:icon17: Jealous much. 9 out of 10 G owners happily trade their cars for a 335i. Completely different level of a car. Not to take at all what Dsskyline has gotten out of his car, but price for price when new, Dsskyline has probably over $6000 in parts/labor to get his car to run 13.1s. It takes a $500 inline boost increaser to get a 335 into the 12s and deep 12s on a quick track. Yeah, the N54s have fuel pump issues, but that recall has been issued. The N55 single turbo 335 is proving to be even better.
BTW, that 335 in the video on big ghetto fabulous rims bogged the hell off the line, but still ended up trapping 106mph which matched the lighter and much more modified flatulent Z. Remove the ghetto rims and launch the thing right and it's going a lot quicker and faster. |
i agree, but i don't think those rims were ghetto.

The 335 is a great car, but it has its issues. The one that bothers me the most is carbon buildup as a result of its DI system. When I say carbon I mean the accumulation of recirculated oil/crap that builds up on the intake valves since fuel doesn't wash over them in most DI engines (Lexus being an exception, but even then FI might only be used when the car is cold). This seems to be an issue for many manufactures who took a gamble with half-backed DI applications, not just BMW. ^ i get you man. and to be honest, i've felt a little weird going to the street legals with my 20" cast wheels. the way i see it, even though performance is suffering, its nice to know how the car will do exactly as its driven on the street. i do want to get a decent pair of 19s I can run outback with DRs - ugh, more money :(

My 335 had 4 sparkplugs changed at 20k, check engine light would come on starting at 15k, turbo pipe was loose, idle was would drop and car would shut down in colder than 50 degree starts and other issues. I can count on my 2 hands how many times i went WOT with 25k on the car. My G saw rapage from day one all the way to 70k miles when it finally had a gasket leak near the spark plugs.
