I just had my clutch changed and now it's shaking like crazy.
 

Today i picked up my car from the shop. At the mechanic's advice i got a Exedy Stage 2 ceramic clutch. The pedal is a lot stiffer and the engaging point is too low. Also, when the clutch is engaging, it's shaking a lot.
My question is: Is this normal? Does the clutch need a breaking in period?
It feels very hard to drive, and i don't think i'll be able to get used to it.

it may need a break in, actually it does need to be broken in. shaking on take off? since your engagement is lower than stock, youre just not used to it, yet.

And how long is the break in period?

The stock dual mass flywheel can't be resurfaced and more than likely, the shudder has to do with where your new clutch disc and old flywheel mate-up. I put a ACT prolite flywheel on my car for a day with an ACT street disc, and no shutter whatsoever. I hated the chatter at low rpms (this is something different than you're describing) and had the old stock flywheel reinstalled the next day, and then it did what you're talking about. It gets slightly better the more you drive it and break it in. BTW, don't get on it for the first 500 miles, just normal shifting. You can also adjust the petal/clutch engagement.

i replaced the clutch in my coupe 2 months ago, although it was stock. right away the pedal felt stiff and it was really rough. It went away gradually over about 700km of driving and last week when i traded my car in the guy who test drove it didnt notice anything unusual. so im assuming most clutches need to be broken in.

It will definitely get better and yes the clutch definitely needs to be broken in. Clutch chatter is pretty normal for an aftermarket clutch. I just got my Exedy clutch/flywheel combo also and it is very stiff and the chatter in 1st gear is pretty annoying. But once it's broken in it gets a lot smoother and the chatter pretty much goes away. I used to have a 6 puck clutch before in another car. Talk about a clutch that is difficult to drive on the streets. haha!

Well to answer your question it will shake. If you think you can let off the clutch a little and the car will begin to roll without shake that would be incorrect. You have to give it a little more throttle until you can find that good release point. Driving a G with an exedy, OS giken et al stage 2 clutch it's common.

Depends on what clutch you installed, there are plenty of aftermarket clutches that will drive smooth as stock, if you put a puck style clutch in, yes, they will shudder on take off and it will probably get worse as the clutch gets broken in.
