i have a slight minor minor grind going into 2ns gear, i expierence it only when i dont let the car run for at least 5 min before driving, also could it be that i havent changed the tranny fluid? i called up my local transmission repair shop, he told me he willl drainn and fill up the tranny fluid but i have to get the fluid from, the dealer ship!

what fluis should i get? and one changed the fluid recently

just called my local dealership ( ray catena inifinti of edison nj) told me its $115 for a drain and fill not sure if its a flush and fill and they told me they use "nissan matic s" ? is that good enough for me? also is there flusids to be changed, i was reading a thread where there is gearbox fluid? if so where is it located, my second gear is agitating me !

Ok relax. 30k is the NORMAL change interval for our transmissions. If you have AT I would recommend you listen to the dealer and use Matic-S fluid. Where you get it done is up to you.

Search is your friend. This question has to have been asked many many times.

i searched and searched, i cant find a clear answer, lol. trust me i like to search before asking ? .. and yes my transmission is 6mt.

Drain and fill is not a flush. Drain and fill should be done only if you haven't ever had your oil changed at a very high mileage. Everyone that I've ever talked to favors flushes over drain and fills. Flushes tend to be double the price but are worth it. I got one a 62k, just hit 80k and about to get one within a couple weeks. You might also wanna flush your rear differential fluid which would help as well.

so the rear differential fluid is totally different from the tranny fluid? is there anything else i should tell the dealer ship to change/replace ?

getyourgwapupp Nov 12, 2010 02:20 PM

any more replies?

Yes Tranmission fluid is Different from the differential.

If you have an automatic then get Matic-S you can find it cheaper online.

your differential will normaly take about 3 quarts of 80/90 gear oil, not synthetic just plain ol 80/90. I did mine today and there was nothing to it, probably took me 45 mins in all.

is there anyone i can go to besides the dealer to change my differential fluid? dealers charges $115 an hour labor lol

3? Its only 1.6 quarts or something like that.

yup, diff only takes 1.5 qts. I used 75-90 Mobil syn.

6mt also takes the same oil.

grind in 2nd could possibly be your 2nd gear syncro going out.
change fluid first then see if that works, if not, I hope you have warranty.
