Automatic won't shift out of first in cold weather

Hey guys, I've tried searching everywhere on this topic and while finding similar problems, I haven't read anything exactly like what my car is doing. If you know of a link to another thread where some one gave a solution to this problem please let me know, otherwise just try to get me going in the right direction so I don't end up wasting more money.

About a week ago, I got up for work and it was about 5 degrees outside. My car started just fine, and after a few seconds I started taking off down the road. When I got my speed up a bit the car failed to shift into second gear. Even when I pushed the shifter into the manual gear selector I could not get the car to shift out of first. I pulled into a parking lot and had my girlfriend drive me to work. When it was warmer in the day, the transmission worked flawlessly and I was able to drive it home. The same exact thing happened the next day, again in freezing weather. I had to let it run for about 45 minutes before it had warmed up, but after it had, the transmission seemed to work perfect again.

I took my car to a transmission shop and they told me it the first step they would have to take would be to change my camshaft sensors. This cost me $300 and for the next week of cold mornings I had no problems at all and believed they had fixed the problem. Today I woke up in -2 degreee Connecticut weather and had the same exact problem. Before I take it back to the transmission shop, has anyone gone through a similar situation and maybe have an idea what is going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check fluid level and color.

Forgot to mention the transmission fluid was changed about a year ago

fluid is only good for 30k miles. Check fluid and color is always the first thing.

Thanks but thats the first thing the transmission shop checked. Now they believe it may be an electronic problem. They're doing tests and possibly replacing a solenoid today
