So the clutch pedal....what's the problem?
I recently bought my 04 coupe a few weeks ago and so far I love everything about it. It's literally the perfect car and its exactly what I was looking for. But there is only one complaint that I have. It's the damn clutch pedal. It's driving me crazy. I don't know what it is.
I've been driving stick for 2 years now and all my friends would tell me how good I was at it and how smooth my shifts were and they would always let me drive there cars but recently when I got my G it hasn't been like that. I struggle to get clean, smooth, consistent shifts. I even sometimes almost stall unless I pay a lot of attention to the first stop to roll. The first to second gear shift is the worst and drives me crazy. Don't get me wrong I do get about half my shifts smooth but its around a 50/50 smooth to bad shift at this point. I thought maybe I just needed time but its been almost 3 and a half weeks and nothing has changed. Sure I've gotten a little better but not as good as I should be.
It's driving me crazy and I even did the clutch engagement mod but its still not the same. Idk what the problem could be? Maybe I need a new clutch? Right before I bought it we I took the car to my mechanic and he said everything was fine and drove the car around. Is this a common problem in these cars? Any little mods that would help me get rid of this problem? Or maybe I just need some more time driving to get better?

Search around, this is a very well known part of our cars. The best and only real fix is the RJM clutch pedal fix. If you want to "fix" it, that is the way to go, or else you just have to learn how to drive our cars as is.
i know exactly what you mean, ive driven stick for 10 years now and have no clue as to WHY this car is so damn jerky. nothing like my bmw's. ive asked the same question before and nobody has answer as to WHAT the issue is thats making the car so damn grabby
The main mod you need to do is remove the clutch assist spring from the clutch pedal assembly, that way you can feel the clutch engaging. Should take about 1.5 hours and is free to do.
I bought the RJM clutch bracket but never installed it because I was happy enough with the spring removal. My shifts are flawless almost every time.

Anybody else have any experience with this mod? I read tons of posts saying the clutch engagement mod was the best and it worked so well but it didn't make a difference for me.

^^Yes. Remove the spring first and see how you like it.
I removed my clutch assist spring a week after owning the car and it made it sooo much easier to drive!
However I just installed a new OEM clutch and flywheel and now my car is impossible to drive due to the pedal's fulcrum point.
Like others have said, the only real solution is the RJM clutch pedal. I just ordered mine yesterday!
