600WHP, Killed my JWT Clutch

So,

I did a MT swap and it definitely took some getting used to for the first few k miles, but my pressure plate is cooked 1.5 oil changes into my swap

I'm not sure the JWT was a good choice for 600 Wheel++ Torque

What are you 600+ Guys using?

Or should I just L2 Drive noob gg lol.

Exedy twin plate or any other respectable company (os giken et al). at the min.
Grab like an SOB.

Maybe a 6puck but not sure it'll be up to the job.
What's your concern with a twin plate? I've had a hd, 6 puck and run a twin plate now. The cool part with the twin plate is you only need to replace the disks and they usually come with a flywheel as a set

Jtrain 02-07-2015 11:25 PM

Aren't those hard to street? I've already got a lightweight flywheel.

N8Deezy 02-07-2015 11:27 PM

I daily mine approx 15 miles each way. No issues to drive IMO

seymore4 02-07-2015 11:52 PM

Absolutely need a twin disc (or better). I would personally go with OS Giken but Exedy is another good choice.

Okay,Thanks guys.

So that was likely the reason I'm in the position now that I am? Because I don't have a twin disc set up?

its not just about being a twin disc, but you need to look at the torque handling when clutch shopping. most clutches are rated in max torque. Also the twin should be easier to drive than a harsh 6 puck, just more expensive.

And if youre hesitant about twins/tripple disk clutches, look at the Southbend SS series of clutches.

The JWT clutch pack is good for about 450-475 HP/TQ (if I remember correctly), I think it was a combo of power and the "getting used to" that fried it. JMHOP.

I burnt through my JWT clutch in 5-10k miles with 600hp. I switched to a OS Giken Twin disc never looked back.

Jtrain 02-10-2015 01:01 PM

I went with the organic treated JWT clutch. My shop seems to be a big fan of them so, I guess I'm going that route. I just can't swallow a 3600 clutch job right now.

BUT I'm also getting open dumps :D
