Has anyone seen this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Infin...01325884QQrdZ1

This is the wierdest thing I ever saw. Is this for real???
There are a few people bidding on this thing.

I don't know but i wouldnt buy it

silver g Jun 28, 2006 07:23 PM

That has got to be one of the most retarded things I have ever seen. The sad part is that some idiot who has no idea what they are doing will buy it.

ttrank Jun 28, 2006 07:49 PM

Wtf

Bigguy2000 Jun 28, 2006 08:36 PM

Seems possible to me it COULD work ........ if as they claim it add's 250 CFM to the harge.
I'm hoping some of the more knowledgeable engineer types weigh in on this thing.
Remember they are only claiming what, 15 to 20 HP gain ? Not a huge amount ................ JMHO.

Shogun1122 Jun 29, 2006 12:02 AM

or you could just do this... same idea.

apparently these things do work, but don't offer much gain... they fail to disclose the parasitic loss from overworking the alternator - i wouldn't doubt if they had the thing hooked up to a separate battery for the dyno to avoid this loss. a few hp to gain at most - now if the hood had solar panels - lol!

other threads have discussed it.

That ebay thing is a joke. If you really want to put an electric fan on your intake, this http://www.electricsupercharger.com/...ramspecs.shtml is about as close to a real solution as it gets. 120 amp draw, so it is moving some air. 800 CFM to get 1.7 PSI. I doubt it will achieve 1.7 psi on a 3.5L VQ, but likely could on a 2.0L 4 banger.

those are old school scams.... if you check around ebay, they have the same model claiming to add 80hp, to a cavalier if you use two of em in succession.

basically they are simply fans, or bilge pump motors used for boats.

they dont have the psi or cfm to actually boost a 4 cylinder much less a 6 cylinder.

people still fall for the scam mainly cause people think, ohhh its cheap, i'll try it, if it doesnt work i didnt spend too much.

the only electric supercharger that actually has been proven to work is by boostehead or thomas knight industries.

was tested in turbo magazine...

pretty much everything else on ebay you'd save money by using a decent 120mm computer fan... thats about the only performance you are gonna get.

hp, speed and torque cost... how fast do you really wanna go?

w0ady Jun 29, 2006 03:48 PM

the main thing most people forget is that while a fan may provide faster air, the slow rate that these fans spin will only disturb your air flow. either way, you lose out in the end.

def true... especially at WOT, the majority of the ebay stuff can not overcome the already amount the engine naturally sucks in...

good point
