Bogus, "Oil Test" - Don't Be Fooled

Firstly, the viscosities, "tested", were different from each other. They, "tested", a 5W-40, 15W-50, 10W-40, 5W-30, 0W-40, and even a 5W-60! You can't make valid comparative conclusions of differing products when they aren't even of the same type, or in this case, of the same viscosity! That would be like saying, "Well, we are going to test a Chevy Corvette v.s. a Chevy Cavalier and see how they compare". Come on! That's meaningless and we all know it, just as this ridiculous, "oil test", was meaningless. Finally, they used the Falex machine to attempt to say one oil brand is better than another. This is absurd. First off, the Falex machine is not used by any oil company in the business to measure oil performance, as the Falex machine is used to measure extreme pressure properties, like with gear lubes! An engine oil is not in an extreme pressure environment, like a gear lube is! Heck, in this bogus, "oil test", I could just pour out my 5W-30 motor oil and pour in some 85W-140 gear lube and, "Presto!", my motor oil will show the smallest wear scar of all! But do we really want an 85W-140 gear lube in our engines? Again, don't believe everything you read on the Internet folks. :thewave: By the way folks, the oil company that came out, "on top", of this totally bogus oil test? Might want to e-mail them and ask them for their High Temperature/High Shear test results on their oils, which is a very important industry standard test that measures the ability of an oil to protect the engine during high temperature, high load conditions, as with a high performance engine. In fact, ask any oil company for this information and note which companies tell you and which don't. I have only found one oil company in the world that is hiding this very important test result from their customers and the public in general. Does make one wonder why?.

Has anyone done this yet? It might be very interesting to share your experience with everyone else on the forum.

Would anyone know the e-mail address of the magazine that performed this bogus oil test? I think an inquiry as to the sponsor of this, "oil test", needs to be made. :)

What? If you post it up and no one responds why are you still stirring the pot? I don't hold issue per se, I just find it odd. I mean, people read these threads and comment if they like. You stated your thoughts quite clearly so I'm not sure if you are trying to get a response or what. I'm sure that is where the one reply you had gotten came from. I too was trying to figure out what you were doing.

CAN WE PLEASE GET RID OF THIS GUY! It is clear to me and I'm sure to others that this guy is just using the site to sell his product without becoming a sponsor especially by his obvious bumping of his threads ( ie  ). Either he needs to go or he needs to direct his posts towards the VQ35 and G35 platform. His fuel octane thread was already a farce and most every other thread of his is the same.
