Pulleys owners: how's the NVH?
First - be warned. This thread is not to discuss the merits, faults, price, or effectiveness of pulleys. It's not about engine/bearing wear, or about dyno numbers, or physics equations, or if modern american v8 cranks are balanced. This thread will be heavily moderated. Any regression into typical pulley debates will be deleted.
So here's my question for pulley owners: how have pulleys affected the NVH of your car? I'm not asking because I'm considering purchasing pulleys; I'm not, nor to I plan to in the future. I was just driving around tonight and thought about the fact that since I had my aftermarket flywheel installed, the car in general is more raucous. There's definitely more vibration in the passenger compartment, and when I have the a/c on, I can feel it through my feet, the clutch, and the shifter. I know the stock flywheel dampens a certain amount of these vibrations, as does the stock pulley. I assume aftermarket pulleys would have similar effects on NVH as lightweight flywheels. Am I wrong? |

i never noticed any NVH once i had the pulley installed. my car redlined fine with no additional vibrations that i could consider.
however, once i had my flywheel/clutch put in, NVH was very noticeable but i dont mind that at all really. |
I installed the crank pulley on my 5AT and did not notice any increase in vibration, just a perkier (is that a word ;-)) car :D
