What to do with HIGH millage G35's

Hi, I am very close to buying a G35 with high millage but I wanted to ask if 129k is too much for a 03 G35, the price is right to me but is it even worth it? I was planning on building out the motor so I guess I was wondering if I could do enough building out to make it take some simple mods like chip, headers...

As long as you take it to a mechanic for a full inspection and there is a comprehensive maintenance record you should be fine.

how much is he asking?

rahheen Jul 15, 2008 06:44 PM

14000

Why would you build your motor for basic NA Bolt-On mods? :dunno:

Just make sure its been thoroughly inspected. The VQ can give you alot more than 129k miles ;)

well i wanted to keep it in good shape, what would u recommend for a high millage motor

rahheen Jul 15, 2008 09:33 PM

i would like to do a greddy turbo but i wanted to do as much as i could to the engine to help the high millage.. any recommendations? also, does 14000 sound good for a 03 coupe with 130k?

You didn't mention if it was a coupe or sedan, 5AT or 6MT, or options...

So just ballpark on www.kbb.com the retail of an '03 Coupe @ 129,000 miles, some options, in "GOOD" condition is 11-12k.

6mt coupe, everything but navigation

if the car is in good condition, sounds not to bad of a deal

thanks, i think i'm going to go for it, its in very good condition and he has a lot of records... but i am still wondering what someone would to to the engine to keep it running smooth with high revs?

I'm not sure what you mean by keep it running smooth with high revs?

How high do you want to turn it?

If you do plan on putting turbos on this motor, I would rebuild the block at the same time. I wouldn't FI a block with 129,000 miles on it.

hey man the vq motors are amazing, i had one in my I30/maxima sprayed with 100 shot of nitrous with over 180,000 on the clock. 129, she will give u another 100k at least

rahheen Jul 17, 2008 03:20 PM

thats what i keep hearing, arguably the best v6 ever made... i just dont want to do all this crap to the engine and have it blow on me because of high millage thats all

Granted, the engine will last, but what about the other components? 129k in five years is a lot of milage. There's a reason why manufacturers have a milage/date limit on warranty. If it's being driven well beyond the recommended miles per year, you have to assume there is more wear and tear on the vehicle than the manufacturer feels comfortable with.

It's not so much total milage, but the amount of miles in the given amount of time. Cop cars and taxi cabs don't last too long. Just my 2 cents.
