Brembo's?
Exactly how strong are these brakes...I just go my coupe 2 days ago so of course I havne't done any hard braking as of yet, but I'm wondering how strong these Brembo's really are...Do they have a longer life span that most brakes out there? and will they eventually dis-color? Or is there some type of upkeep that needs to be done to them...That gold shine to them is beautiful on my Ivory Pearl and I hope they stay looking that way...Thanks ahead of time for your help

Re: Brembo's?
You've got yourself one hell-of-a set of brakes there my man. I've got 8500 miles on my '03 6MT Coupe, and these are the are the best street brakes I've ever had. And my last two cars were Ferraris.
A point to be aware of. If the dealer didn't bed the pads in correctly,(as mine weren't) they'll squeal at every stop for several thousand miles, and be a little "grabby" at very low speed. I finally cured mine about 500 miles ago with a day on the track at Watkins Glen. It only took a couple of haul-downs from 120 to 40mph at the end of the back straight to solve both problems. At the end of the day the original pads looked like when I had started. I was very impressed. |
Re: Brembo's?
"Best street brakes" is correct. Very good for street, won't do so hot on the track or hardcore mountain driving.

Re: Brembo's?
I really enjoy the brakes but with the amount of brake dust and the presumable rotor wear, which of course is subjective, I am concerned with the projected frequency of replacement. Not to mention that the rotors and pads are not a cheap replacement. Last time I was at the dealer kicking the can around with the techs, they said that the rotors wear like german rotors, which from my experience with my first two cars, was horrible, and they have had to replace a lot of rotors sooner than they would have expected. As fars as recutting them, they said they can usually only get one cut out of them, don't know if this is true but it definately is not uplifting. Anyone have experience with replacements yet?
