P0455 Trouble code

P0455: EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large)

I have this and my engine light is on. I got it deleted and tighten cap came back on. I got it deleted again and bought a new gas cap. Light still came on after few days. My car is not under bumper to bumper warranty anymore, but still the engine im sure. I have a 04. Will they charge me to diagnose the issue like hook scanner up and figure problem out? How much is that? should i even go to infiniti? What do you think i need to replace?

I just had my car serviced with the same code P0455. Ive had the SES light come on twice for this. First time was about 6 months ago after going over a rough railway crossing. I reset the code, and didnt come back until recently. I brought it into the dealer and it turned out to be a leaky EVAP vent control valve. It was replaced under warranty though.

idk what the cost would be for replacement since it was covered under warranty, but this is what was replaced according to the work order:

VALVE ASSY - CONTROL 14935-AM60B

It may be something else in your case, according to the autozone scan for code P0455 it could have been one of these 4 things:

1. Defective or loose gas cap
2. EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4. Vacuum leak at engine

Only if you get it fixed through them. If you take it to the dealer or any shop really, they are going to charge a diagnostics fee if they tell you the problem and you decline getting it fixed. Depends on the shop, but the dealer is usually at least $100.

Go to a trusted mechanic or a Nissan dealership if you want to save money. Or if you want to tackle it yourself download an FSM and lookup the diagnostics procedure.

its cheaper to go to nissan dealer and they fix infiniti? i have appointment with infiniti tommorow they said they will charge the fee its like $120 a hour, but if you get the work done by them then they remove the fee and you only have to pay for parts and labor. it kind of sucks you in because your already down $120 if you back out just to check problem. hopefully its not alot of money to get it fixed, but its like your trusting them now.

yes you can bring an Infiniti to Nissan, you are driving a Nissan built car afterall. Only thing a Nissan dealership cannot do is Infiniti warranty work.

i just came back from infiniti. they were nice 1 month after warranty was over but since im preffered customer appreciation always coming in for service they did it for free under warranty! I saved $300 because it was 100 for part and like 200 to install. It was the same part you got replaced vent control valve

That's awesome.

If someone has this issue later it is not hard to fix. Let me know and I can give you details. I didn't have the problem but have spent enough time with the evap box to know all about that valve. LOL

I'm having this same problem. I took it to the tire/mechanic shop that I trust most and had them put on my new tires for the snowy season. It just so happened that this light came on the day before. I checked the gas-cap. No dice. I bought a new gas cap. No dice. The mechanic is going to clear the code to see if it comes on again, but I'm confident that it will. He said that he is not able to narrow it down beyond the evac system large leak code. The component diagnostic program they used supports every vehicle except nissan and some european brands. Where do I go from here? I would prefer to stay away from dealers. Is there anyway of narrowing it down further?

you have any ideas ttrank. Feel free to email me or pm me.
