HELP !! Oil found in cylinder #2 & oil deposit found on ALL 6 plugs. PICTURES INSIDE.

so i took out my old spark plugs to day and found all 6 of them has oil deposit on it as shown in picture. on the top of that, i also found oil pooling after removing coil pack over in cylinder #2 but not any of the others. I've read the sticky thread and the guy was talking about cylinder #6 getting oil leakage. are we on the same problem?

i have only 39k mileage on my car. full warranty still valid til Dec. 2009.

you probably need new valve covers... should be covered under warranty

There is a 10 page thread on the subject:

on a related note... when infiniti replaces the valve covers and gaskets, are there updated components that will fix the problem or will the leaking be back in another 40,000 miles?

paging bythabay :p

As far as I can see, the new one did not have any change in design, as I just replaced a pair.

then i guess we can all look forward to replacing them again in 40,000 miles :p

Historically you should search Infiniti going back to 1990. Pretty common problem to reseal valve covers at intervals. Depends on oil type and viscosity driving style.
Normally we get mild leakage at 60,000 miles but most wait until 100k for an as new rebuild.

Would cleaning all the mating surfaces off and appyling some Permatex gasket maker suffice in preventing the leakage into the spark plug tubes?

that doesn't seem all that bad compare to the one on youtube that bythabay posted. His was definitely pooling...more like an ocean. The plug was completely drenched when he pulled it out.

Nevertheless, it looks like your valve cover is headed towards that direction.
