Does anyone's g35coupe NOT burn oil?

Sooo my car burns oil, goes to below L by 4000 miles. (I fill it up a little bit of course, but still) Is this really bad? Would a warranty replacement engine even fix this??

Thanks.

Yes there is a tsb for oil consumption. I would go to infiniti asap

SlickSilverG Jul 22, 2009 12:41 PM

Wouldn't the replacement engine just do the same thing?

irishsig Jul 22, 2009 12:58 PM

The oil consumption issue is usually resolved with the replacement of the engine under warranty.
This topic has been covered several times.
It's a lot of reading, but good info to know.

Yeah I read a little bit on it here. I just see people get new engines, I'm curious to see if the problems start up again though. How much oil quarts is that from F to L in our cars?

redlude97 Jul 22, 2009 01:31 PM

I do not burn significant amounts of oil in my 06 6mt coupe. I lose ~1/4-1/2 qt between changes ~4-5k.

So I guess your up a creek if the car is out of warranty?

SlickSilverG Jul 22, 2009 01:59 PM

Well my car is still under warranty, and I purchased the extended warranty when I bought it. So I'm good.

So what do us fools that are buying a G do? I haven't gotten one yet but will in the next couple weeks, advise???

A g37? It shouldn't have the problem. If it's a g35, hopefully its still under warranty or doesn't burn oil. Bout it.

G35, 2004 model, I'm sure most are out of warranty 5 years later :confused2:

Not sure, I just got my G myself, but its 2007, and I got it from dealership which can offer the extended warranty. Did you check it out? Does it burn oil? You might get lucky.

Haven't looked at it yet... Will next week.

I don't buy from dealers if I can at all help it... The only benefit from a dealer is potentially the warranty no other benfits, mostly cons

No problems from getting from my dealership. I'd rather get it from dealership. Not a "used" dealership, but an Infiniti dealership.

Everything is top notch thus far, some axle clicking in back, but thats a TSB as well. No biggie.

Good luck.

Even though the later G models (05-07) with 6mt tranny (revup) can have the OC problem the majority of them do not from my research.
There would be a heck of a lot more people on these forums and other G forums complaining if the majority of the revups had the OC prob.
I have an 06' 6mt coupe and I love it.
I thought I had the OC prob but it may have been the mechanics fault in not filling the oil up all the way after my last oil change.
I'm still testing the levels every 500 miles.

It comes down to researching the vehicle's history you are buying and seeing how many miles it has on it.
The drivetrain warranty which covers the OC prob is 6yrs/70k miles.
There's really no way to gaurantee you won't go through the OC prob.
It's just one of those speed bumps u may have to cross if u decide to get a G with the revup engine.
