Hey, you never asked about getting close!

Plenum spacer(250), stillen exhaust(1100) (if sedan) stillen high flow intake(350), port and polish(free if you're good, otherwise 300+), test pipes(200-500), Osiris tune (gets up there around 700) race gas (priceless)

That might get you close and it'll keep you busy for a while....well your bank at least.

Oh I forgot, when you buy all that ****. If you put the on the stickers it all came with you'll be easily around 340hp and 2200 lbs/trq

some peeps achieve 300 whp, but you need every NA mod possible, plus build your motor. For about the same price you can go FI. Or if you want to keep it NA Stroker kit + build motor = NA secks

Is it really that hard/expensive to hit 300 crank HP on a DE motor?

300 crank is easy... most people shoot for 300 to the wheels and fall just shy.

Yeah to get 300 at the wheels you are going to have to build your motor, not cheap.

Yup here is a dyno from my wife's car. This shows before and after a tune using an emanage ultimate. I bring a guy down from new hampshire to Atlanta to tune twice a year for the s2000 Atlanta club.

She has a ztube, Stillen exhaust and that is it. The rest of the gains are in the tune.

fyi, I have a Stillen exhaust for sale in the FS section. It is a gen 1 but sounds more like a gen2 because the middle resonators were swapped out to ones that flow just as good but absorb more sound.
