Weird! Car randomly shuts down!!
Weird! Car randomly shuts down!!
Hmmm, i got a dilemma here folks! Just the other day after leaving work, i'm heading home and i pull up to a red light. Just before i get ready to make a left turn, my car just shuts off! I tried to crank the car but the engine wouldn't turnover which puzzled me cause the battery is brand new!! (Optima Red Top) I checked my connections, fluid levels, no check engine light, no visual wear or damage. I had to take the key out the ignition, wait a minute, then try to crank. Then it cranks like nothing was wrong! Next day i head down the street to the store and when i turn into the parking lot, my car dies again! I take the key out of ignition, check under the hood, key back in, then it cranks up. Does anyone have any suggestions because i don't want to take the car to the stealership without knowing what could be wrong?
I went through the exact same thing last week but I got it fixed right away. First thing I did was take it to Autozone and let them scan my OBDII for the code to see if its the left(2/B) or right(1/A) bank. My right went out and it cost me a little over $55 for the part. I think the left is a little more expensive somewhere in the 60s. You will also need a 10mm wrench to get them out. There's two cam position sensors, ones hidden under the intake air filter box, and the other is a little hidden wayyy in the passenger back end of the engine bay, you will have to remove the engine cover to get to it. Google the code for help with diagrams and it'll give you a better picture.
I appreciate the help! My story is pretty much similar. I went ahead and got both sensors from autozone. (LB/$50, RB/$60) And just finished putting them in today. The car is back to normal, thank gawd!! The stealership doubled the price on the sensors!!! They looked like less than $10 to manufacture & the we're talking $105-$125 for the right and left ones. I have to say, it's one thing that they make a lot of money from selling these cars but to go out and insanely mark up the price on these cheap, faulty parts is a GREEDY overkill nightmare!!
