*sigh* And now it's overheating.
 

When I first got this car, there was a leak at the drive shaft, then the sticking clutch pedal, now it's my door lock switch AND the car overheats big time. Thank God for extended warranties. I think I'm dumping this thing after the warranty runs out. My car doesn't even have 30k miles on it. How rare is this? This is my first Nissan and may be my last.

pretty rare. This is my 4th nissan and havent had any real problems not caused by me

It could be that the person(s) that had the car before you didnt care about it that much or couldnt afford the proper maintenance. I have never bought a used car because I am afraid of that. My next Infiniti will probably be used because of the horrible depreciation.

have you checked your coolant level? if overflow is not full to max line make sure you fill it.

Overheating is caused by bad fans (call infiniti - bad fan issue on some models i think), t-stat, or air bubble. If you haven't done anything to your car lately, check that the fans engage. With the AC on, the drivers side fan should always be running. If you hit 203* F in coolant temp then both fans should be on HIGH speed.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Neither fan is running. And my A/C has been acting up. I checked earlier upon the advice of my mechanically inclined father.

Yea, Infiniti actually extended the warranty on the fan motors going bad. They extended the warranty and you were supposed to have gotten a letter for it in the mail. Long story short - it does happen, they claim it's not very often but that's probably the problem.

Just dropped off the car this morning and told service dept that the fans aren't running. He said that they received word from Infiniti to go ahead and fix the fans cars like mine at no charge. I don't even need to use my extended warranty. So it's definitely a common problem.

Stealership just called. It's the fans.

Yea, again, they sent out an extended warranty letter that you should have received. It extends the warranty on the radiator fans. Enough to extend the warranty, but not enough for a recall.

^I don't think I ever got any extended warranty letter on cooling fans. Door rust, yes. Cooling fans, no.

Ah, just pulled my letter out and looks like it's for Coupes. Maybe they never realized it applies to Sedans as well? Either way, for reference, here it is...

My fans definely turn on at 194*(low) and 203*(high)
