Castrol Import Multi vehicle

http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f...matic-j-55979/

Here they claim Nissan Matic J is simply rebranded Castrol transmax J(which doesnt doesnt exist in USDM). USDM version is called Castrol Import Multi Vehicle.

Just to be safe I still use Matic J but I'm in a bind needing a bottle in a hurry to top off the AT oil pan. I have to make a roadtrip during thanksgiving but the ATF dipstick shows its low; I have 0% chance I can make it to a dealer before this Thursday.

I'd like to hear some feedback please, FACTUAL feedbacks only please.

Pretty good find.....but i knew this allready and its been in my trans for 87,000 miles with 2 flushes so far....and no problems.

well i found several sources saying in the nissan 350z tech manual it states nissan matic J and castrol transmax J is same. what isnt 100% from my research is if castrol import multi vehicle is SAME as castrol transmax J, thats where some speculation is....

i was hoping someone can find some definitive source that puts the two castrol together. one guy actually contacted castrol to confirm and they said if you put castrol import MV in your g35 and dealer finds out, your warranty can be voided. how can they find out if they drain it from an AT and see its feel, looks and smells the same????

once we put all the puzzle pieces together, people can stop wasting money on nissan matic j and even the most paranoid guys can sleep well at night with castrol import MV's in there AT!!! :)

The Castrol spec sheet for Import Multi-Vehicle shows compatibility across Transmax J and Nissan Matic-J. I'd consider it safe as a Nissan ATF. I use this in my Subaru's as ATF and in my manual G as PS fluid.

yeah it says its "safe" but that doesnt assure many in this community. for example http://www.castrol.com/castrol/secti...tentId=7028224 .... says its compatible with both matic J and matic D, such blanket statement worries me when nissan specifically seperated required lub specs for transfer case and auto tranny for a reason....

Castrol sells import multi vehicle to Nissan and they mark it as Matic J. The new Castrol Full synthic Transmax multi vehicle is Matic S. At 1/3 the price...

I did a drain and fill few times with this and tranny shifts like butter afterwards .. not kidding.

Redline D4 will work fine. Supposedly Honda automatics are super finicky when it comes to ATF but D4 works better than Honda OEM fluids. Really popular on acurazine for the TL/Accord transmissions. Much better than the Honda ZL-1 they used to spec-and that was only because it had a lot of friction modifiers for soft shifts...which mean additional slippage and a partial reason Honda had so many issues with automatic and V6 engines.
