Re: gasoline
what kind of mods do you have ? Sounds like some kinda leak...air or fuel...that isnt very good mpg
Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old |
Re: gasoline
Wow, only about 175 miles per full tank? That definately seems like unusually poor gas mileage. Have you tried having the dealer take a look at it? Perhaps a computer diagnostic would show if there is a problem / error. Or maybe you are just driving WOT all of the time??? ;)

Re: gasoline
Wow, 175mi/20 gallon tank= 8.75 mpg, there's a pretty serious problem there unless you drive 2 mile trips and never let the car warm up...

Re: gasoline
I am curious. Does this low fuel light come on? If not, then maybe your fuel gauge/sender is bad and you still have gas in the tank. Definitely have the dealer take a look at it. You are getting worse MPG than a Hummer!!!! Yikes!!!!

Re: gasoline
and i thought my gas mileage was piss poor at 11-12mpg.
PS - is that normal either? i've heard of other people averaging 15ish. http://www.tremerandtremer.com/g35/G35DriverSig.jpg |

Re: gasoline
maybe my mileage will rise when i stop hammering the throttle to the floor like an idiot every time the light turns green. the sound of my Ztube/Popcharger/Kinetix cats still has me addicted

Re: gasoline
You're driving habits might be the issue here. High powered cars can usually still achieve decent gas mileage as fuel consumption is highly related to the amount of HP you are making at any given time. However, bigger engines tend to have more mass(moving parts) and perhaps more windage that can increase parasitic drag over a smaller motor. But when you have more available power, the range of gas mileage can vary greatly. A small econo motor will use the about the same amount of HP to cruise as a bigger motor in the same vehicle. But at full throttle, the bigger motor will generally pump more air, and consequently will need more fuel, than the smaller motor.
I will say 175 miles a tank seems excessive, but it also is a bit inaccurate to measure by tankfuls. I track my gas mileage by resetting the trip odometer each time I fill up. At that time, I can take the mileage and divide it by the amount of gas that goes into the tank. I generally fill up at about 1/4 tank and fine I'm in the 225 to 250 mile range. I tend to drive somewhat aggressively though. I did have a need to extend my gas mileage once until I was paid so I babied it for a few days. I found I was able to keep the needle right around the 1/4 tank mark for the entire time while still making my daily 30 mile round-trip commute. Since it was only a partial tank though, I could not tell what my actual mileage was. The A/C being on seems to have a pretty drastic effect on gas mileage too. |
Re: gasoline
Wow, the other day I filled up and I got just under 23 mpg!!!! I love my 6MT. I can say that on that tank I did baby it alot abd those are mostly highway miles.
