Blue smoke? Time to rebuild my VQ
Okay so I own an 04 G35 coupe and it has just turned over to 102,000 miles  Ive done pretty good justice to her :driving: not to mention redlining her on a constant basis, I cant help myself. I got the pop-charger, z-tube, iso thermal MD plenum spacer, UR underdrive pulleys, lightweight flywheel, F1 racing clutch, Megan racing resonated test pipes, and my favorite, my nismo s-tune exhaust. With these mods I cant seem to keep my composure and I beat her up nicely  mods were all done between 85k and 100k. Anyways I was changing my oil and decided to go with Mobile one full synthetic. After I did this my car started to blow blue smoke out of the exhaust, guess since synthetic gets into those seals easier I guess I may be experiencing some blow-by. Went back to conventional oil and it still smokes, probably worse now. :confused2: Since I love her to death I plan on rebuilding the engine so I can run her for a long time.
This is what I had in mind: Wiseco Pistons Eagle Rods ACL race series Bearings New valves, seats, seals, and guides Should I replace the springs, rocker arms, and retainers as well? I kinda dont wanna spend all that money if I dont need to but I do plan on going with osiris and raising that redline a tad. I plan on running a strong N/A build until the funds are right to maybe possibly go with my dreams and drop two blowers under my hood. Any input anyone? |
dont be a copy cat lol. i wouldnt worry bout the valvetrain unless you are throwing some good cams in it. just put on new valve stem seals, make sure the heads and deck are true/not distorted any amount....and throw it all together.

thanks brotha thats just what I needed, I grabbed the z1 performance stage 3 engine rebuild kit. doing the engine rebuild asap. today when I did a cold start it looked like my car was on fire from all the smoke

If you are rebuilding - you might consider using stronger springs/retainers. Especially if you plan to rev higher going forward. the DE is solid to about 71-7200 rpms. If you go past that I would get new springs. I'd want to rev to 7500 at a min if i built my motor...

I would suggest Ferrea Valve seals and HR Valve springs
The spring seats are the same as the De The valve seats or guides are not really needed If you want to go with upgraded valves you will need to get them lapped so they can sit right on the seat. I went with Supertech Inconel flat valves to raise the compression up a bit Get Cams if you want to raise your redline stock cams don't make power past 6300-6400 RPM You will need to get your lash checked so it can be setup properly |
yep thats what mine does......during cold starts after it sits for a few hours....it smokes like a freight train until it warms up.
