engine doesn't turn on, only clicking sound... pls help
hey guys,
Ive been having trouble with my engine turning on. It would usually take 4-6 seconds to turn on the engine for the last couple of months. Now the engine doesn't turn on at all. I only hear a click, click, click sound whenever I turn the key. Its not my battery because all the electricity works and I had the battery checked out coulpe of weeks ago. CCA is still fine. I dont think its my camshaft sensor bc i had both replaced last year. Is it the starter? fuel pump.? Im thinking its my starter, but if the starter is bad will it still click?? Any DIY for starters?? pls help. thanks |

correction, there is no clicking noise at all..
I think the battery is good because all the power works fine. anybody know where the starter is? |
its the starter, there's a DIY on here just search for it...3 bolts and a plug then its off, carry it into any auto store and they can test it to confirm...it will click at first and eventually stop after you try it enough

found the diy. thanks
it should be the starter right?? Im getting mixed answers. If it doesnt click no more that probably means the starter is shot? |
the starters are cheap...mine clicked and clicked until it wouldn't click anymore lol

Damn., going to be a long weekend.,
how are those aftermarket starters? Infiniti is asking 300$, but pepboys and autozone starters are only 130$. Seems like a easy DIY. Did u have any trouble doing it? Is it easy to reach? Thanks. |
I just found out the 05 g35x sedan starter is located on the driver side. Is this correct?
https://g35driver.com/forums/attachm...ocated-awd.pdf this service manual is for the 06 g35x sedan.? But it should be the same for the 05 g35x.?, right.? Also any pointers? |
Should be the same for first gen 35's ('03-'06), though I'm not a mechanic so don't go ripping things apart without some confirmation or research first.

That sounds like your battery is the problem. Same thing happened to me...clicking noise and all the gauges would still light up. AAA showed up and jump started the car for me. I popped in a new battery and everything is perfect.
Before you start spending money on starter motor and other stuff just get some jumper cables or call AAA and see if you can jump start the car...if it starts than your battery is the problem. |
I replaced the starter, very simple. But the only problem is that I broke one of the two bolt. So the starter is hanging on one bolt. Lol. I pretty much snapped one of the bolt and the thread part is still lodged in the engine part. What to do?? Lol. I did manage to get the new starter on but it's hanging on one bolt.
Also my car starts now., but it still takes couple of seconds to turn the engine on. I'm thinking I'm having a fuel pump or filter problem. Also got code po300 and po171 |
