Serious Fuel Smell....
OK, so last winter my car had this horrible smell of gas to it. It would get worse with the use of AC or heater. After you parked the car it would fill the garage with gas fumes and the next morning the smell would be gone... until you started the car again.
As the temperature got warmer the smell went away. From about Feb/March to now, the smell has been gone... none when the AC or heater are blowing.
But I started the car for the 1st time in weather that was under 60*F and the gas smell is back!
So what is the connection between sub 60*F weather and a very strong gas stench coming around all around the car and making it even worse in the cabin with the AC/Heater blowing.
Some info:
Smell does not get worse or better on recirculate
Smell does not get worse or better on AC or HEAT... any temp.
The smell went totally away for 9 months... the warmer Texas months.
Gas milage does not seem to be effected
Walbro 255 installed
SGP racing return fuel system
There are no visible leaks, the smell is so strong inside and outside the car you couldn't narrow it down to a specific area if you wanted to.
Standing beside the car the smell is just as strong by the intercooler as it is by the exhaust pipes.
I thought this issue had magically resolved itself.. but now it is back to haunt me... AND IT'S WORSE THEN BEFORE!

I do have test pipes, they were installed about the same time as the fuel system. Part of that is making this so tricky is I had several things done during the warmer months.. so when it got cold and it did this the 1st time it could be a number of things. I'll go back and recheck all the fuel lines... but if they all check out OK, what else can I check?

This probably isn't what it is, but takes two seconds to check so it wouldn't hurt. It also has nothing to with your AC/heat being on.
Check the top left of your engine, the multi-colored thing (I believe its the fuel regulator?). Mine as leaking before because the o-ring had went bad. You will obviously see fuel leaking out of it thats the case, I know mind was leaking and would leave a terrible smell. Took 5 minutes to fix too.

You can have a leak and not visibly see fuel. Your fuel return system has been brought up as a possible suspect, so that's the first thing to check. It's gotten colder, so fittings and connections may leak b/c parts will expand & contract.
Bottom line is you just have to go check instead of asking people what it could be.
