I have a XD sub 9mm and have shot the 40 many times. I love both and carry the 9mm as my CCW weapon. Never jammed or misfired at all. The standard magazine is a little short if you have decent size hands. In my 9mm I carry the 16 round mag.

It's a great gun for the money like said before but I do prefer the 45 over the 40. Take a look at the Steyr S40 also. I have this gun and luv it. But my favorite is stil my S&W 4516.

I was looking for something to carry and shoot at the range from time to time. I liked the idea of the XD40 available larger magazine which extends the grip.

A 45 isn't that much bigger than a 40.

I carry my compact 45 with no problem. The one on top is the 45 and the one on the bottom is the 40.

Everyone I know has one and loves it.

I am Kimber and Sig Sauer guy, but you can't go wrong with a Springfield.

Not a bad choice Rob. Ive never fired one myself, but have heard good things about them. I was going to pick up a Springfield 1911 until I found the deal on the used S&W, but had also considered the XD series.

Its actually slimmer and easier to carry than you think. I dont really carry it on me, but do take it with me in the car most of the time I am on the road.
