New Speeding fines $1000 for 50mph over posted speed on first offense!

Whoa just saw this sh*t on the news. Second and Third offenses can go from $3K to $5K, five years in jail and loosing your license for 10 years. Damn, and it starts Today so watch out Floridians.

I think is definitely excessive, but hey what can we do. Ohh yeah get a good radar and probably a laser shifter too.

Try moving to VA

And honestly, why in the hell would you want to go 50mph over the limit anyway?

In a 45, that's 95 (absurd)

In a 65, that's 115 (also absurd)

In other states, if you were speeding so excessively, you'd be hit with reckless and there is a good chance you could lose your license entirely. No one goes that fast if they're not racing or just being generally stupid/irresponsible. Either way you deserve what you get if you get caught at such speeds.

^+1

save it for the track

RedG 10-01-2008 01:55 AM

Yeah right, you guys in VA can't even have radars, and it is not that I am advocating street racing. But I do find myself going about 90-100 sometimes in a 50mph highway. I little further down on the gas pedal and I will be easily going over the 50mph, and if you racing which you know we all do from time to time, most likely you will hit the 50+mph. and $1K sucks but hey you have to pay to play, just try to avoid the fines as much as you can by being ready.

Anyways it was just to give Floridians the heads up.

oops, was just doing 100-110 in a 55 on the way home. :o funny thing is i wasnt racing anyone. its just late and the roads are empty so why not.

kgreene 10-01-2008 06:59 AM

Way to break in that new engine w0ady. :driving:

iamericgee 10-01-2008 08:55 AM

i see it like this! rules are made to be broken !

GreenGoblin 10-01-2008 08:59 AM

thanks for the read

Hi-TechG35 10-01-2008 09:02 AM

 Wow thats insane. Oh well though I can agree with BlueDevil.

w0ady 10-01-2008 09:18 AM

im sorry but anything 55+ is usually a highway. with the long, boring straights we have in fl its so easy to hit triple digits. now im not saying doing it while theres heavy traffic obviously. i know my cars slow so i dont race people but its sure nice to stretch it out sometimes when the roads are empty. the only person i have to injure is myself.

Thanks for the heads up. Thanks to my two wheeled friends as well.

iamericgee 10-01-2008 09:31 AM

i like acting like im at the indy 500 during rush hour !~lol

GreenGoblin 10-01-2008 09:32 AM

I can think of a couple times that I have been on 2 wheels and been over 120mph over the speed limit. I can only imagine if I got caught doing that speed.

_jb 10-01-2008 10:16 AM

I guess you guys didn't see Alberto's 170 miles per hour video?

Why else would anyone have 670 whp?

gary c 10-01-2008 10:36 AM

I agree, 50 MPH over and you deserve that fine!

^^^^I agree!^^^^
I know nothing about the long stretches of road in Florida but we have the
same thing here in Ca. only the speed limit is raised on the interstates....so
it's possible to drive 5 MPH over and not get cited. You guys in Florida get
away with so many mods that we'd get impounded for....quit complaining!
