Vortech Installed. Q's

I just got her back and OMFG!!!!!

I LOVE IT!!!

I have a couple of questions tho... I'll ask them in this thread instead of starting another

1) When I am in 1st or 2nd gear (5AT) my SLIP light and my VDC OFF light come on... This concearns me cuz it cuts the VDC OFF... I did a brodie in a parking lot to see if the VDC would still engage and it did NOT... It was shut off for some reason... This happens from a roll not even getting on it..... Is this normal for Vortech??? Or is there a problem here?

2) Can a G use the RPM function with the Zeitronix guages? My shop was telling me that the "G" does not have the wiring in the ECU for this function.

I am sure there will be more as the days go on....

Thanks for all the help... I have a little rettle under 900 RPM's but I am not overly worried about that cuz I will get my RPM's adjusted to 800 - 900 tomorrow I hope.

THANKS!!!

Congratulation...bro on your new set up. Also keep us updated after you get the rpm adjusted.

I haven't had any problems with mine at all.The rattle noise is normal,it is the gear noise in the supercharger.Congrats on the fun factor.

My VDC always comes on when I romp on it as it has to much power to handle the VDC will kick in for a short time then turn back off but it shoudl not shut off totaly.

Yeah, thats what I thought... Thanks for your reply... My Slip and VDC lights come on and stay on... I am not slipping at all when it happens nor am I romping on it... I could understand that. My lights do not disengage even when I hit the VDC button it just stays lit up.

You need to get that looked at as I remember the time I was showing a buddy how the vortech felt and shut off the VDC and spun the tires out, then as I made a right hand turn I completely forgot that the VDC was off and just floored it, lets just say that I had a handful of swerving left to right to keep my car in lane without hitting anyone. Moral is that you need that VDC on when you decide to and working at all times.

^^ I couldn't agree with you more on that. I am taking it back to the shop where I got the install done tomorrow and having them look at that and also to fix a rear main crank seal leak (on them)

I think the problem is when I picked her up my alignment was way off. They did not do an alignment when they put the motor back in (they had to take her apart to replace my main crank... long story)

I am 75% sure that the alignment being off as much as it is, is the problem.

Is your service engine soon light on as well?

sentry65 Jun 25, 2006 11:27 PM

I've had VDC try to kill me a few times when I'd pull into traffic and step on it and instead of moving or spinning out the tires a little, it cut the engine and gave me control 2 seconds later while traffic almost rear ends me.

Also a couple years ago when I had an enthusiast model, TCS contributed to an accident I had because of it cutting the engine while I was in a mid turn because the car drove over some sand/dirt from a storm the day before and causing the rear end to spin around. I almost wondered if I had a potential lawsuit against Nissan because of how rediculous it was

I ended up shutting my VDC off permanently because of my nismo LSD causing it to go nuts in corners or at least slow corners. Otherwise learning some basic car control things of course never hurts. You'd never normally give the car full throttle in any sort of turning situation with a RWD car unless you want to do a donut while crashing into something. AWD might be able to pull it off

I generally thought VDC was a much better solution than TCS which is a POS IMO. But I'm still not a big fan of either

No, no other lights come on... The VDC and SLIP do not come on right away upon start up... They usually come on during a lazy right sweeping turn and then stay on... If I park and shut the car off they reset themselves and do not come on until 5 or so mins into driving.

I see what you are saying Sentry, I have had that happen to me as well when I slip taking a left turn into traffic. I have learned to start slow from a stop gradually increasing speed so I do not spin the tires (5AT)

I can see that being a PITA in a 5MT or 6MT...

I am looking into getting a racing (auto) tranny sometime in the future so I can hit the 1/4 :)

If your allignment is off . Mainly the steering wheel . It will turn off the VDC . It is tied into the steering wheel too . Happened to me . Get it alligned and it should be ok

My slip light comes on and stays on only when I do donuts or figure 8's. Just peeling out or slight drifting around a curve and it goes back off.

sentry65 Jun 28, 2006 12:30 AM

even with VDC switched off, are you guys feeling the car doing any braking - like individual braking, when the slip light flashes on? My car always did that. It's like VDC never really went fully off

urban Jun 28, 2006 01:08 AM

VDC is never completely turned off , that is what I have heard from other members.
