TT A/T Problems con't

review/update (not good) 05/cpe/a/t/JWT(tt)~330whp/vb upgrade/hi-flo cats/exhaust etc...
Bad stall, hesitation, lag during acceleration...any rpm including red line. VB upgraded from original "core". Sent vb back to "check out" upgrade...came back "OK". Still has same problem.

Trans people sent "new" "stock" vb...after install engine would not respone to gas pedal at all. Removed vb and put vb solenoids only in old vb...same no engine response problem...put old vb w/ old solenoids back on car same problem...car essentially dead...inoperable. Prob will take to Infinity dealer!?*#...

That sucks man. I know there are a couple people on here with A/T TT's. Hopefully they can help you.

AmateuRN Mar 9, 2007 02:07 PM

Wow, you are having problems. Let the shop have it- hope they throw it away for you. Claim insurance.

Lol, kidding. I don't know what to tell you. Have the shop fix it... they messed it up. Tell them not to charge you, if they stand behind their work at all...
Or...
Bite the bullet, take it to the dealer, then take it to a reputal VQ shop...

AmateuRN Mar 9, 2007 02:07 PM

Its gotta be throwing codes... what are they?

rcdash Mar 9, 2007 05:02 PM

Seriously, you need to provide more info... it sounds like the VB issue has been ruled out. Something else is wrong... And why isn't the shop fixing it for you. DIY install? I thought JWT TT couldn't be installed except by authorized dealers.

The (un) named (as yet) shop in Marietta that did the "work" is still "working the problem". He is "authorized". Thanks for responding.

I have been in touch with SGP Racing in Houston about this issue and I have been startled by their concern/knowledge and "can help" attitude.

I just....want...a fun car that...(oh I'dno...)... works....what a concept!

What is the auto shipping fee from Georgia to Houston?????

The "tuner shop" took (towed) it to a dealer and apparenty the codes are normal(ish).??? ("Wish I knew now what I didn't know then")

Yea, sounds like SPG Racing in Houston is in my future!

It'd be great if you post follow-up for the rest of the G community. With that last bit of info, we all know who you're talking about. And "that shop" has a lot of respect on the boards - i don't think he'll mind following up as to how the issue was resolved.

There's really only two well known shops that offer VB upgrades: SGP and ForgedPerformance (not counting Stillen and Level 10 since reviews of their work is mixed at best).

I drove a loaner 05 sedan AT last week and the transmission operated very differently than my 04.5 coupe. When I double down shift my coupe goes straight from say gear 4 to gear 2. It does NOT go to 3rd gear. Well on this 05 sedan it would always go to 4-3-2 sequence with a very long delay. Talk about a step backward. Hope the coupes are better off.

Oh yeah - did you have grounding wires installed?

Anyway, when you say "Wish I knew now what I didn't know then" - can you fill us in so we all know???

Who makes the valve bodies for these shops?

ATs are fairly complex and modding a VB is generally of an order higher than a general mechanic's knowledge.

Understand that I am very VERY new to all this...even at the "boards" I'm pretty much a virgin(!)...low tech guy (but at least I'm old).

To respond a little (more to follow...I need help here)-
The issue is NOT resolved!!! I do not have the car (for many weeks).

I took that "lot of respect on the boards" at face value and trusted/took my new car there for a seamless JWT kit...the "check was blank" at that point..."just get it right, please"...this is my daily driver and a car I love.

I HAVE NOT HEARD "I WILL GET IT RIGHT WHAT EVER IT TAKES"...no, I have fears that it will be the car's fault...($$$)

As far as the shifting I am so sick and tired of me being the expert/test driver of the the car and having to "analize my own problem" i just can't do it any more...find me someone with "foreknowledge" (SGP, Mark, Tom???[GOOD PEOPLE])

Grounding wires??? No, I was told that they were totally not necessary by my "respected boards expert".

In business isn't it good to just just "get it right" what ever it takes.

[Do I see a flatbed truck with an 2005 black "G" A/T on the bed. Its rumbling along at 55 mph to Houston Texas...to a place of hope and revival...a new life? Also, a bill for ~ $5000 which actually I'd willingly pay for a HD trans, vb and torque converter. I hope not!]

Thanks so much for your concern...I'm serious.

Sorry to hear - that's the problem with outsourced work where you don't know who it's being outsourced to.

Good luck - if that VB job came with some kind of warranty, I'd hold them to it.

Again, thanks for your concern...

This is very simple.

Is a man (or shop) good for their word/work or not???very simple. Transgo and you know who.

We will see. A warranty is only as good as the people behind it. Also, this should not be my problem...I have already paid the bill. Thanks for listening. I am alonely voice.

G-Mony Mar 10, 2007 01:57 AM

Sorry bout the bad luck! really...Im also not technically sophiscated with this stuff but you gotta give more info, if your looking for help. seems like your leaving a lot out...not sure if its on purpose or not.

Saw your other post...you have +400trq and only 330rwhp? that seems to be wrong..maybe the tune is off? I'd hold off on shipping it out yet as its pretty costly cos your talking roundtrip. why did you even do a VB upgrade with that power? I'd try getting a stock VB.

You should post your problems on my350z where the shop is 'highly regarded'. I dont think they would want there rep soiled...u might get better response from the shop and other members there might have some insight.

how long (and how many miles) did you drive car after getting it back and it going limp?

I've only had my JWT TT with stock AT for 3k but with no problems.

If your in Marietta take it to Forged Performance and see Sharif . He maybe able to help you .
