Ive had some 20's on order for thre months now and Im about to put a stop on the order and just do the SC. Whats the best one fore the money? Or should I go with a TT?

 

twin turbo will run about 1000-1500 dollar more than a supercharger. U will get more power tho... so whatever u want. I dont have f/i so i dont really know which one id go for, but id probably go with vortech from the things ive heard. Dont forget that a supercharger is not only the 5000-6000 dollar purchase price of the blower, but install and tuning will run about 1500 probably. if u want to go f/i u will probably also want cats at least because this is a bottleneck in air flow. I was thinking about getting a blower but then decided that economically i probably wont be able to afford it (and by afford it i mean be able to purchase one whiel still living and spending money the way i want) until im out of college (5-6 years minimum), so i'm just gonna save the cash and end up doing a few bolt ons and then trade it in towards a used r34 and shipping it over here and making it legal haha thats my dream anyways)

You can get a Vortec for about $5K, including basic installation. Bells, whistles, gauges and colored lights will add to that. But if it is not carefully and correctly tuned after install, the price will go WAY up.

One of Vortec's distributors (Avalon Racing in NH) quoted me around $4300 or $4400 for the kit, delivered. Install is 14 hours labor.

Realistically, you will probably want a different exhaust and headers at some point to better vent what the SC is forcing in the front end.

 

had my vortech dealer onstalled, and outsourced for tuning....

with the vortech, there's alot of goodies that'll make a HUGE improvement now.....

BASIC install, with unit, was 6500 (including gauges, nismo LT thermo, samco hoses).....

dont forget a full exhaust, cats, y pipe, axleback, plenum, clutch, and flywheel, to name a few.......

also, tuning is about 125 an hour (mine took many hours to gety to the level it is now)

 

Do you have a dyno for your car? Are you happy with the gain?
I plan to do the install myself. I just ordered the injen exhaust and have had the DC headers on order from summit for a couple months now.

bought mine for 4300, but i think they went up since then, from superchargers online, my gauges cost ~500, i installed it myself, plus ~100 for misc stuff like spark plugs, more mobil1 and filter, silicone, and tap, then i paid about 250 for dyno time(85 and hour), then another 100 for the 9lb setup. so thats what, 5300, i already had my injen exhaust, and i also added some helix test pipes,

base dyno was 333 untuned, with some map adjustments, some of mine and some of other peoples, the best i got was 371, before the pipes and 9lb pulley, im hoping to get to the dyno once the pulley is on, i hope i can pull 400 out of it.

i swapped out the stock clutch and flyweheel just two days ago.. (jwt lightweight fly and race clutch)

i was already showing blackspots on the stock plate (scorching, i believe)

and yes, i believe 9lbs is safe, if not a bit more (its all in the mapping, IMO)

will have new dynos at the end of next week

i believe that the safe limit with the stock engine is around 10psi

i concur.... depending on the rpm (piston speed), i would go over 10 much, for a long period of time (regardless of the fueling....)

I know of a stock engine that blew a rod and put 4 fist sized holes in a block at 7.3 psi of boost. This car was not properly tuned, but just throwing out a number like 10psi isn't always a safe thing to do...
