Walbro 255 won't fit!?
 

GUys I DID a search on this and noone seemed to talk about it so I'm bringing it up now.

I bought a walbro 255 for my G and I took the whole fuel pump assy out and ulled the stock pump out and al seemed to go well until I tried to put the walbro in and it just didn't fit. THe plastic clip that holds the pump in just wouldn't clip in again. I compared the two pumps side by side and they are not exactly the same size. The walbro is slightly longer and this bit of difference is enough for it not to fit.

Did I get the wrong size pump??? or do I need to modify something to make it fit??

Hey there. Post this in the Florida G35 Club forum here on driver. There are more than a dozen FI'd G's and Z's that hang out here who can help you out.

djniknala or gman2004 have both done full engine builds and will definitely be able to help you out with this. I think you need to remove the plastic clip, but don't do that just yet... I kept the stock fuel pump with the Vortech set up and ran the auxilary FMU so I'm not exactly sure.

In the turbonetics instructions, you have to cut off the tabs on the 255 fuel pump. MIAPLAYA has the turbonetics ST instructions on pdf or do a search. good luck.

titan just said to put tie wraps on it... Are they resistant to gasoline?

You can do that or you can take a dremel tool and take some of the material out of the smaller piece that clips over the fuel pump. Either way it shouldn't matter except I don't know if the assembly will still fit in the bucket with it the way titan mentioned. I'd trust their advice on Supras more so than on the 350z/G35.

look into a eagle/weisco setup. Ive run that for years on my talon and its been great. Dynoed 484hp on 19 lbs w/pump gas.....room for much much more....

Its gonna be nuts when people start stroking these motors, and it can be stroked to a 3.8 easily. If my motor goes, thats what i'll do.

i remember reading from somewhere that the stillen stage 4 changes the fuel pump to the walbro and it requires some modification to the fuel pump cage.

I had a set of the first ARIAS pistons made for the VQ and the ringlands were too small for alot of boost. The news ones(Extreme Duty http://www.forgedinternals.com/store...cat=248&page=1) have huge ringlands and should be good for alot more power. I would suggest either the ED Arias or the CP's that SGP makes to their specs. The rods are personal choice. The pistons are the crucial choice with this motor. Nobody has snapped an aftermarket rod but people have burnt up aftermarket pistons. That should tell you something right there.

Well, once again I had to do my own research to come up with an answer on this walbro 255 issue and here is the summary:

Yes the walbro 255 they sell online for the 350z/G35 does indeed fit. The best way to do this is to follow the instructions from the turbonetics turbo kit.

I would post up the pdf file but I don't wanna get in trouble.
Email turbonetics and ask for their PDF file for installing their turbo kit. It might actually be on their website.

Once you get it, refer to pages 13-15 and you will see all the steps to upgrading to the walbro 255. I have it on my G and aside from being slightly louder than stock, it works great.
I can barely hear it during idle.

i just installed the walbro 255, you need to take of the tabe "file off" as well as file the opening at the bottom of the housing until the pump fits in snugg. It is hard to explain but you should figure it out when you have the pump assembly out and take out the stock pump you should be able to see where you need to file. Sorry its hard to discribe. Did you drill a bigger hole in the in-tank regulator and two large holes on the bottom of the fuel pump assembly?

Mine is not the same as the Turbonetics 350Z instructions on their site.
