F'D UP NITROUS INSTALL?!!

Got my car back from the install of Zex Wet kit tonight. The car was running perfectly until two hours after the install.

I attempted to restart my car, and it hesitated, as if it was flooded. After it started, it ran pefectly, and still runs perfectly.

The problem I'm having, other than the flooding issue, is that the car REAKS of gasoline as if it is leaking out of the car. I hope to god it doesn't blow up.

Also, I'm leaving for a week on vacation on Monday in the early a.m. and have no way to contact the shop before I leave.

I'm so pissed and am going to skull crack these idiots for the crap install and for ruining my G. They came highly recommended by several people but obviously didn't know what the F@@@ they were doing because the car smells as if one spark will make it go up in flames.

Any suggestions as to what is going on with it?

Try taking the nozzel out of the intake and block the hole temporarily. Then with the ignition switch on, stick the nozzel into a 2litre bottle while you activate the system, check for leaks after activation when the solenoids arre supposed to be closed. You may need some help here as someone operates the gas pedal.

Hard to troubleshoot over the internet, since several factors we don't know, like the level of N20 you are running, 50, 75, 100 or where you have the nozzel installed. You maybe running too much fuel, but it sounds more like a leak, so you have to be careful of backfires in the intake. That WILL sure mess up your day. The fuel smell you never said where it is coming from, engine compartment or exhaust.

Good luck and keep us posted.

BTW, how does it run?

man, i am sorry to hear that. You are probably the 5th or 6th person that i've read about who's had trouble with the Zex kit. There was an entire thread about it over on my350z.com. I dont know much about N2O so i cant pinpoint the problem, other than that its Zex's fault.....

Better not use it until you find the source, don't want your "G" to catch fire!

Would this be the fault of the installer or the kit itself? I just checked the car again today, it still smells terrible with a very strong gasoline odor, noticeable in the cabin, and primarily in the engine compartment. I'm worried it is somehow going to explode (some jackass smoking near it, etc.)

Dude, try to contact them ASAP. Phone, email, fax, hire a headhunter, whatever so that later they wont give you the "you should've come sooner" line. I feel your pain, somebody did a f'd up job on my past ride and it was never the same. This time around I'm being very hesitant on upgrading stuff... for now anyway.

Re: F'D UP NITROUS INSTALL?!!

The great part is that I'm going out of town for 1 week as of Monday morning. I wish I could just plug it up somehow, but I know nothing about engines to determine what parts they even changed for fuel to be leaking into the air.

There is no gas on the ground or visible, just the odor in the air which is nausiating to say the least.

This has nothing to do with Zex. It has to do with the installer. Check the pm that I sent you. I had this happen as well and it's either the gas line loose at the throttle body pipe or at the fuel rail adapter where they tapped in. Don't worry, just don't drive it and have them tow it back. This was an install mistake. Hope it works out!

I agree with Edretti. The kit itself couldn't do anything like what you describe. Well, I shouldn't say "couldn't," but it's much less likely than the alternative explanations. The thing about Zex is it's disarmingly easy to install compared to NOS, but a half-assed job will be punished just as much, if not more so.

You nitrous users are nuts! LOL...I squeezed my Integra but I think it's just too abusive towards the engine...I really hope you're running aftermarket pistons and have beefed up your other engine components- stock motors, no matter what any installer or manufacturer tells you, will not take kindly to NOS for too long...More power to ya for goin to such an extreme for a little extra does of HP
