Infiniti's sedan competitor for M5 and CTS-V?

Hey all--
Love the site, and I lurk often. Currently, I own two G35x sedans, and I love them a lot. That said, I came from the Corvette crowd, and I'm always in search of more power! The reason I got out of Corvettes in the first place was because of family. Even though I went to four doors, I still like to have fun! After seeing BMW's offering with the M5 and the upcoming 2009 CTS-V (reportedly making over 500 hp from a blown V8), I've begun to wonder whether or not Infiniti will step into the arena. I like the interior better on the Bimmers and the CTS, but I found the G35 a lot more fun to drive. That's not to say I dislike the interior of the G35, mind you. In any case, I can already feel the pull of massively more powerful motors. Any rumors or news of an Infiniti super-sedan on the horizon? Thanks a ton.

Nope, no info on any super sedan, but we can always dream...

Nissan could easily make one by sticking the VR38 into the G. It'd be the return of the 4-door GTR!

G38R
G38 V-Spec
G38 S-Tune
G38 R-Tune
G38 Z-Tune
etc...

DO IT!!

I was kind of hoping Nissan will start to go the GM / Mercedes AMG route - stick the most powerful motor in every single model offered......

Imagine a 2009 VR38 ATESSA AWD Nissan Quest, or Infiniti EX-R, G38-R, blah blah blah.

ahhh no...i hope not.... i think infiniti will release something after the newest models served there time.... i mean they had to wait for the gtr to come and thats why they didnt put more power in the cars vs others in the same market.

I couldnt imagine that. Could you imagine an 07 Sedan X Sport R ? The trunk would look crazy busy :bowrofl:

"Infiniti G35xS-R" :bowrofl:

Thought about that, but STS is local; hmmmmmm..... Although I'd like something from the factory giving me that power, A turbo kit in some form or fashion is not out of the question. I suppose that could end a lot of the research on "new" cars....

Except the Neon was a POS on wheels, so you can't compare the two.;)

The next most probable move by Infiniti is turbo charge their next generation of G cars, or else they will definitely lose the name of being the "Japanese BMW".

*cross finger for VR38 in a super G car that competes with the M3*

:D

I think a lot of these future powerhouses will not be built, because the new legislation by the US is demanding higher gas mileage and lower emissions, and any automaker with any sense is not going to continue marketing high performance vehicles, unless, they can raise the gas mileage immensely. I already read the new Vette may never make production due to this.

I'm pretty sure the new Vette is already a done deal. I've already seen pictures of the poduction model, engine, interior, and a tentative timeline. Forced induction allows automakers to elivate performance without doing a ton of damage to "theoretical" MPG numbers posted on the window.
