FX35 fire

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, my sisters fx35 just caught on fire this morning. No one was hurt. Fortunately my mom was home and a gentleman painting inside the house. The car was parked the previous night inside.

She remembers hearing some kind of "pop" but didnt think anything of it. Their house alarm started to go off and they went into the garage and it was engulfed in flames. The fx is totalled and their garage needs totally redone (will try and get pictures up later)

I searched forms quickly to see if there were any TSB and didn't see any on this one. Found this on another form but no real quality info was given http://www.infinitifx.org/viewtopic....25308&p=279208

It was in for a ABS module about 1 week ago... so i have to assume it has something to do with it.

If you have any information, I'd appreciate the help.

You don't mention the year of the vehicle....
but I would think if there was a FX's catching on fire, Infiniti would have posted something on this, and we'd know all about it....
I did see a Fuel Recall on 2004 FX35 that could result in fires.... but ABS module wouldn't have anything to do with the vehicle catching on fire I wouldn't think

I didn't see anything on 2007 FX35 safety recall or anything resulting in fires.... good luck with it though I will keep researching and if I find anything post it here

damn thats crazy. how many hours after the car was turned off did it catch fire?

Brooksy088 04-24-2013 05:46 PM

The car last driven 12+ hours I believe. The investigators are currently looking at it.

I know this is an old post but I thought I would add that I have seen a 2003 G35 RWD in the pull yard that had a engine fire. Looks to have started on the passenger side. The FX35 and G35 share the same engine and drivetrains. It would be nice for anyone that has seen this issue to add it here or a FIRE thread to see if this is very common.

Out of curiosity is that the side with the battery? The few engine fires I've seen all started as an electrical fire.

The G35 that I saw looked like it was all on the passenger side. Most of the damage was in the battery area.
