Can't chirp 2nd anymore.
 

I'd like to think that my driving skills haven't deteriorated the past couple of months, but what should I check for?

Car doesn't feel slower/more sluggish when accelerating WOT to 80mph. But 2nd just won't chirp anymore. Clutch going? Differential?

Unplug your negative battery cable overnight. Let the ECU reset.

sounds like a worn out clutch.

Warmer weather, warmer pavement, no winter road debris. There's nothing wrong with your car and a battery reset won't fix anything.

I hope you're right. Having trouble remembering my aggressive shifts last summer. :o Gonna give it a go at night one day when it drops to the 50's.

Possibly your tires have better traction due to warmer weather or clutch is wearing out.

Continuing skunk smell combined with vinegar residue has deteriorated the clutch lining :D

If it's the clutch, you better change it now so it's broken in by June 24th! No excuses that day!!!

Battery Reset will fix it I promise. I speak from experience unlike others.

Also, I have one of the most stickiest tires you can get, and we have 95+ degree temps down here right now and I can easily chirp/spin 2nd gear when I shift to 2nd. 3rd on occasion.

Unless its the clutch then I can see that happening. But on occasions I have had to reset my ecu because it learned something wrong and I lost power where I couldn't even break the tires loose either.

20k miles, 90+ degrees, driven very hard.... and my car still chirps 3rd pretty easily

Here's the thing... if it was the clutch, wouldn't I feel it slipping when I lay down the power, even after I've disengaged the pedal?

Well, I went out for a few launches tonight. It was a cool 55 and I had on super-bald tires. The tread wear bar itself is making contact with the ground. Only able to chirp it 3 out of 9 times. I used to chirp 2nd with a 95% average, even going uphill. Something is definitely wrong.

I don't think the ECU is the problem. It's the shifter itself. Ridiculously notchy. Gets caught at virtually every gate. At a stop I just rowed through the gearbox and had difficulty. I'm long overdue for a tranny flush, so I'll do that this weekend if my replacement for the stripped bolt comes in.

If I still have problems, I'm going to undo the "clutch engagement" mod. Although I've had the car for 3.5 years, I only adjusted the rod about three months ago. But I only made one turn. If that doesn't solve the problem, I'll see what 1/4 times I get at the track, to see if it actually is a "problem."

Afropuf, the shifter will not cause this problem. It is a mechanical linkage that is all. The power of the car and how fast you release the clutch is going to allow you the chirp the gears. Do a ECU reset, and after driving about 50 or so miles your car should get its power back. It doesn't hurt to try right?

I can't just pull back on the shifter and it will slide into 2nd. It literally gets caught at Neutral, and I have to give a second effort to get it into 2nd. I'll reset the ECU during lunch with the pedal method. But I'm still not liking the feel of the shifter. Not sure how to explain... just doesn't feel "healthy." Hopefully at the upcoming meet in the area, I'll be able to find another high milage original '03 6MT owner and compare. :(
