Question I think you should all think about

OUr cars are a v6
M3 is a INLINE 6
Porsche is a Flat 6

with that noted how can i get my g35 coupe to song more like a m3..Every time i hear a porsche or a m3 with an exhaust u hear that no non-sense engine note that sounds sick in my opinion. its not throaty like a v8 or howling like our stock exhaust..I cant really describe the sound its something you have to hear..

m3 soundclip...the fact that its supercharged doesnt really affect the note ive heard stock m3s with just an exhaust sound like this...AA exhaust or a B&B exhaust and Stebro all have that same high pitched but no rasp exhaust note.

porsche exhaust note:

the only company that ive heard come close to this sound is crawford there hi flo cats on a stock exhaust.

Just wondering if there is anyway to build a custom muffler and y pipe back exhaust that is super light weight that could give me the sound im looking for?

To be frank with you, you really have to play around with alot of factors / variables: i.e. tube length, tube thickness, muffler size/muffler type/muffler location, true dual or single, x pipe or h pipe

if you want sth close, i suggest you to go with the intimator exhaust + hfc

IMO FastIntentions exhuast is the closest you will come to no rasp and more growl, less howl.

Of course exhaust mods will open things up and allow you to hear the engine note better, but you're simply not going to change or improve that mechanical sound without changing the heads and possibly some internals. The OEM VQ sounds pretty good, just really muffled, at high RPMs now that I have the MREV+, headers & cats. It's encouraged me to stick with my NA build plan.

It's not going to happen. The sound those cars emit is largely based on their engine layout (inline, boxer) and the firing order. Firing order has a huge effect on sound. Boxer's have a very mechanical sound thanks to the fact that the manifolds and cylinder heads sit very close to the ground.

Be happy though, the VQ is probably the best sounding V6 out there. Most V6s sound strained and much like UPS trucks.
