Want to see the high mileage G's and their problems if any...

Lets see who has some high mileage cars, and the major problems encountered during owndership. Please state year, mileage, problems. I'm interested in getting a 2003 sedan, and just wondering how their quality is.

Thank You

I've got 40K miles on my 2003 sedan with 2 years of power train warranty left. I don't consider that high mileage and to this point have not had any major problems. Other than maintenance, gas, insurance, etc. I have not had to shell out any $.

2004 6MT with 50K. Tranny change @ 25K, CD player @ 48K, Drivers Window Switch @ 35K, Battery @ 45K. Daily driver.

Probably too late to help you, but I've started collecting reliability data on the 2003 G35 this month. The earliest I'll have some results is February, and that depends on how many owners participate. First results for a few other models were recently posted.

I also recently started a repair history survey, and will start posting the results of that one when I have enough responses, probably late this month or early next month. You can't really gauge repair rates from such a survey, just as you can't by reading threads like this one, but you can gain a sense of the things that can go wrong.

Details on the research: Vehicle reliability research

From the data I've seen on other cars, first-year cars are usually a bit less reliable, and 2003 was the first year for the G35.

2004 6mt Sedan with 44K miles

new tranny recently due to grind into 5th after complaining twice @ 40.8K

passenger seat rails replaced due to squeaking @ 40.8K
now driver's side squeaks, getting that done soon

rear axle clicking TSB finally @ 39K

radio replaced twice for missing left channel on CD @ 15K, 19K and 30K

spoiler replaced due to one side lifting off @ 9K

Did voluntary fuel hose recall @ 35k

Had the rear parcel shelf 'fixed' due to vibrating from Blose sub twice and about to go for a third time (35K & ??)

Brakes all around done under extended warranty at 14K then 29K, I was kinda of pissed/concerned when they cut the rotors twice and complained, of course they said it would be OK, at 35K I went back and got new front rotors and pads due to warping (they shouldn't have cut twice)

I know that all looks grim, but I don't consider any of them major except for the recent Tranny. All done under warranty so big upset to me. Most things were done with no trouble from dealer. Some things after bringing back a second time cuz 'could no duplicate problem' first time. Maybe they though I would think I'm going crazy or forget.

Still one of the best cars I've owned and would recommend to anyone. I would agree with staying away from early release 2003 if possible and going 2003.5 (no doggy door) and newer if possible, esp. 2005 w/ revised body/engine. Good luck!

wow that is a lot of stuff ^

yeah I just looked at it and realized that, anyone else have the same? It seems like the same minor stuff most others have had trouble with.

'04 coupe 5AT 48K miles
New passanger side window motor @ 45K
New brake pads all around at 18K 30K and 47K
New front rotors at 47K (do they cut the rotors every time they change the brake pads?)
New rear view mirror @45K due to rattle

Woblin_Goblin Dec 12, 2006 11:26 PM

Forgot to mention the rattles. I don't notice them in the winter with the heater and defroster noise. Half the time the car is silent. Sometimes though they drive me crazy when the car decides it wants to rattle.

All the recalls have been done but of course that didn't cost $ so no big deal. In June the parking would not stay on but they just had to make a adjustment which was covered under warranty. Also, the OEM all seasons are worn out after about 45k miles.

The front brakes were done at about 27K miles (just before I bought the car). Various rattle fixes before I bought the car. Something about the foot pedal throttle assembly at around 16K miles. Other than that, it's just been recalls.

I am very pleased with this car overall (it's my first). It's my first car and the sales and service people at Ericksen Infiniti have done a pretty good job so far and I'll likely visit them again.

77K on my 03.5 5AT sedan. Dealer replaced stuff:

1. Front pads/rotors @ 40K
2. Shattered sunroof @ 55K
3. Rear pads/turned rotors, Replace fuel hose recall @ 70K

Everything else has been perfect.

I have a 03 6mt sedan with 98K miles. My only problems to date are as follows:

Had the drivers seat braket replaced 2 times due to coming appart (common in the early sedans)

And I had the brakes replaced a few times under warrantee when it was still in affect.

The CEL came on one day a couple of years ago and I took the car in. They said the MAS went bad. The replaced it and it has been good ever since.

Had an issue with the fuel guage not reading correctly/ or not letting me fill the car up with gas compleetly. Fix at under warrantee. No issues since.

I am still on the original clutch, no tranny issues, or any other mechanical ones that I know about. I have been very pleased with this cars performance. I do have some rattles though that I have just given up on. Other than that, I would say this car has been more reliable than my wifes Camry.
