Will I need an oil change at 3 mo. if I don't drive it during the winter?
Because my wife and I drive to work together, I've decided to park the G (with chrome wheels and summer tires) in the garage for the winter. I idle it for 10 minutes every 3-4 days and take it for a spin around the block on dry roads once every 2 weeks or so. Would an oil change still be required midway thru the winter? Just wondering because, technically I'm not "storing" the car, I'm just not driving it. haha.
Thanks! |

^^^^+1, or just take it for a drive every week or two, when it's nice out (but then you should have different rubber on it), but do not let it idle because of the above reasons.

Yeah I'd stay start it up and at least let it idle for a while once every two weeks or so.

There is a reason that you should change your oil by mileage OR months, ACID! Acids build up in the oil when it's driven. They need to be removed.

The service manager at my dealership told me to go by the miles in the owner's manual, not the timeframe between oil changes. Even though the manual says whichever comes first.
We don't drive our car much as we have 3 cars for 2 drivers. Are you putting it on a battery tender while in storage? |
