Gas Gauge WEIRDNESS !

I haven't been on this site for years. Probably ever since I got my G35 in 04. I am starting to have fuel guage problem recently at 43K miles. I believe the fuel guage recall was for 500K cars but none of which was for G35 model. The same thing happend to my cousin's car about a years ago at 35K miles. I just went ahead and made a complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in hopes that they will investigate this problem. Maybe if we get enough people to submit their complaint maybe Nissan will extend the replacement to G35 as well. If anybody is interested you can go to their website to make the complaint on line. It sure doesn't hurt to try.

Carefully lift the unit up. There is a long metal arm holding the float unit. Where the arm connects to the main body is a little board that you can use a q-tip to clean. Mine didn't look dirty until I wiped it with the q-tip, but hopefully that is where the problem is, because there is not a whole lot else going on on this thing.
The passenger side unit includes the fuel pump, so its a little harder. You have to squeeze the tabs at the end of the fuel line, then push it off. Keep the rag handy as fuel WILL come out if there is any residual pressure.
Then pull the unit out carefully, as its a pretty tight fit. The metal arm and cleaning spot are the same as the other side, though this piece is a bit more unweildy.
Be careful not to lose the o-ring in the tank! Replace and good luck. If this works, its a pretty easy fix <fingers crossed>. Only took about 20-30 minutes.
