G's with nice rims...any problems being stolen?
 

given i came from the world of Hondas..*still.lol as my track beater hatch w. a b16....and how theives steal just about EVERYTHING including the cars..here's my question.

RIMS are the last mod i wanna do for now before the 2008 is done.

How many G's with the 19s n 20s worry about their rims being jacked?!?
any types of lugs or any other pre-cautions to deter theives to be a target?

i dont need smartass comments about "dont park in the dark...watch where u park...etc..." given the common sense :biggthumpup: stuff

or do u guys, pray that ur car will be in one piece when u get back from the mall parking lot. LOL..

Thoughts? experiences? Comments? just curious...That much DOUGH spent on rims n tires...gotta make u more nervous leaving the G out of your sight than a blind date. LOL

i park a 03 coupe with 20 inch 3 peice asanti wheels in the same exact spot i had an 03 cobra stolen a year and a half ago with no problems so far ::knock on wood::... i must admit though, in the begining i worried.....but not anymore...

i suggest using wheel locks, most likely u thought of that already, but i suggest taking all ur wheels off and bringing them home, leaving it on cinder blocks, the thieves would be like WTF :confused2:

I would reccomend not buying the normal style wheel locks which there are like 3 key types for, many theives carry these keys around. The best way is to get a custom keyed wheel lock, I got one of a kind locks for my wheels for like 40 bucks, also, don't leave the key sitting in your glove box, put it under the floor in your trunk or something, otherwise you'll just have a broken window and missing rims.

good question OP also where can i get wheels locks that thieves dont have, i mean obviously wheels locks are mass prodced and there has to be 1000's of wheel locks that can be removed with one key.

you can always put the clifford g5 alarm...pricey but will definetly help you sleep better at night... worked for me

things to think about.

I spend 3 days out of my week working in the inner city/urban setting, at times late into the evenings, never had this problem. My solution costs <$10: a red, flashing bicycle light placed against the leather part of my console, just 3 inches from from the shifter and on top of the cup holder. The light is 3 inches long and .5 inches wide and has various flashing patterns that suggest your serious. It looks like a serious anti-theft system. I also added two VIPER security stickers to my front windows, just above the door handle but on the glass.

As a former juvey (in the 60-70's) in Mexico City and later East LA, I know what served as a deterrent for us. I can also tell you that no matter what locks you use, it would take us just a few minutes to take off. Today, most shops have the tool set for removing wheel locks since so many are lost. When I bought my car, the wheel lock keys did not come with it.... it took the mechanic <2 minutes per lock to remove it.

A bigger issue for the G has been the stolen headlight assembly units. It takes <15 minutes to remove each one and they sell for >$200 on Ebay. In one night, 3 guys can remove >20 headlights and leave alot of damage behind-- this equals >$4000 for one evening!!!! Just show up at a ball game and when everyone leaves, you'll sometimes see Infiniti, Acura and Lexus owners standing by their cars with missing headlights. I have mine roped to the car body with 1/4 " cable wire-- impossible to remove w/o serious cutters. This is one of the latest crazes in black market car parts: xenon gas headlights!

To be honest the oem rays cost so much from the factory that i don't give a shiit if my aftermarket wheels get stolen, cause if they did i could get the same wheels and have cash left over...

i hear ya on the locks...we use to be able to use 1/4 rachet extensions to loosen those tuner lugs.

i use to worry about my civic oem rims and integra ones too..cus like the RAYS they get stolen alot...thats when i decided not to have them on my car

I use 4 McGard spline lug nuts (they have grooves on the outer edge that require key) and 1 McGard locking lug on each wheel (Volk CE28N).

McGard is the same brand that Nissan/Infiniti uses for the OEM wheel locks.

Nothing will prevent a thief from getting what the scumbag really wants (unless you catch him and hopefully have a pistol) - but these spline drive and locking nuts are good deterrents.

dude if they want your rims there gonna get your rims only thing i can suggest to have 2 sets of locks on the wheels and thats only gonna get you a lil more time

yea bro if they want ya wheels bad enough they will just wait to u get in the car and pull a gun on you or something

most wheel locks can be taken off rather quckly

they even sell kits to remove wheel locks on ebay.

most thiefs wont have locks but the better ones will

best bet is to get locks and an alarm, thats really all you can do
