Help! I'm locked out of my car!!
I was heading out to my car to go to the gym but I couldn't unlock my doors. As of right I'm assuming that my car battery is dead. I even tried using the manual key to unlock the doors but the key wouldn't turn? WTF? I also tried using the spare key and it still wouldn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try the trunk

shoot some WD40 into the door lock... run the key in and out a few time... repeat the process a few more times... this should be enough to clear any gunk out of the lock and allow it to turn

The only other thing worth mentioning is...
Do you have the ikey system? If so I'm thinking the fob you have is a replacement that wasn't cut for your car. |
I believe the key door locks only actuate the electrical door lock. Therefore, if you have a dead battery, they won't work.
What you can do is take off one of the rear light lenses, either tail light or license light, and the bulb. Hook up a 12v battery to the leads of the light. MAKE SURE THE + AND - ARE CORRECT. Then you can use your key in the door. |
Make sure you have the right keys! (jk)

I got roadside assistance to come out and open my doors. I do have the ikey but the thing i don't get is why does the manual key works in the ignition but not the doors?

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I am having this same issue, unlocked my car just fine a day ago and this morning I was heading out for work and my car wouldnt unlock using the key. It wouldnt turn in the lock. Ive browsed a couple different forums online but havent came across to the answer for this question. Any idea of what this might be?

What's the weather like? I've had lock cylinders freeze internally before.
Do you normally use the key to unlock the door manually or was this a one-time thing? If it used to work but suddenly doesn't then your key may be significantly worn. You can have a locksmith VIN cut you a new key and then swap the RFID transponder to the new key so it won't require programming. Here is a picture of one key I'm currently using that I did this to, you don't have to chip the plastic like I did but it makes it a hell of a lot easier. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/g35driv...d88e4ab3af.jpg And here is a video of a guy doing the same thing. |
This video is really very helpful for me and it can save money from hiring a locksmith.
