What's a used 3.5 final drive worth?
I can get them for about $500 but honestly don't know what they should be worth on our cars.
What has everyone paid for theirs? these ones are from a wrecker... |
Is that $500 CDN? I paid $300 for mine and I think Tollboothwilly and DaveB paid less than that for theirs.
Well worth $300 if you ask me. |
Yea $500 Canadian. I haven't really searched for them here though, I just know this guy that has them I was referred to him by a friend.
|
w/ or w/o VLSD? Would have to be with VLSD and very, very low miles to be worth it. I've seen 1 or 3 G37 diffs for that much
|
W/ VLSD for sure, I couldn't not have it.
Are the G37 diffs a direct swap by any chance? Or do I have to stick to g35s and Zs? |
I paid 300 for my 3.5 VLSD Pumpkin a year ago. I sold it around the same amount bc it started making a whine sound.
Currently on the hunt for a 3.3 VLSD later this spring. Hopefully it'll be the same if not cheaper and I can install it along with a Transgo VB and Trans oil cooler.

^ since you mentioned that, whose valve body would you recommend? I heard forged is top notch, not sure who else has them.
|
Not a direct swap but pretty easy to swap the part that needs to.
|
I'm on a bit of a performance binge lately, appreciate the help guys.
|
Are you guys saying 300 for the full pumpkin with 3.5 vlsd? I can't find one even close to that price.

Of the 2, Transgo receives better reviews than Stillen. But the people that say Stillen is no better than stock are missing something... I've driven two cars with Stillen and its much better than stock. Anyway - it doesn't matter who installs it - Transgo is the kit you probably should consider (Forged and GTM are popular for this kit - but smaller shops have installed it as well). |
what does this do exactly, any hp numbers?. I'm a newb when it comes to this. And how much do they usually charge to install, is it something only a tuning shop would do or most mechanics would be able to install?, how many Ponies?. Sorry for all the questions

Its for AT - its a valve body kit that makes shifts crisper and firmer - some dont like the term "quicker" but I'd call it it quicker. Transgo cost $250... install ranges from $300-$800 depending on where you go... not many shops can/will do this. *Edit - wait are you asking about the VB kit (recently discussed) or Final Drive?... FD is ring & pinion gears in the rear end - not a power mod... basically akin to smaller sprocket on a 10 speed bike... |
