Changed my sparkplugs.. now i'm getting random misfires??

I checked every sparkplug they all work.. made sure that each one is tight.

I think I had one of the plugs in the wrong socket in the beginning, but they all should be right... now..

but idk what to do....

Try reseating all the coil packs, did you gap the plugs before you installed them?

prinny Jun 30, 2011 10:53 PM

How do you reset the coil packs? and yeah all the plugs were at .04.

xXHotelCrazyXx Jun 30, 2011 11:19 PM

Not reset, reseat Un plug them from the spark plug and plug them back in...also make sure the connectors going to the coil packs are all connected tightly as well

Oh sorry it's been a long day haha. And yeah I did all that after I found out that it was misfiring the first time.

disconnect your negative battery terminal for 10 minutes then reconnect it

Already done. Leaving the positive disconnected overnight right now.

Why did you change the old plugs and can you throw them back in to see if it resolves the issue. Are you getting and Check Engine Lights or codes on the dash. How was the condition of the old plugs upon removal. Do you have any oil leaks on the valve cover that you noticed when you did the swap.

Was thinking about doing that, but never got around to it because it was getting late and I was getting frustrated. I tested each of the new sparkplugs though and they all sparked and worked. I'm getting the check engine light. I found out about the random misfiring from using one of those cheap OBD scanners. The old plugs weren't too bad. I didn't realize until I took them all out then I went over to measure one of them and they were all around a bit over .05.

No oil leaks on the valve cover.

LAME  haha

but yeah the error code that I got was 0300. Random multiple misfires. Feels like the car is running on only 5 cyclinders or something. I got the sparkplugs from Kragen Oreilly. NGK Iridiums

xXHotelCrazyXx Jul 1, 2011 03:02 PM

did you drop any of the plugs before they were installed?

prinny Jul 1, 2011 08:38 PM

I went to a mechanic and I THINK he fixed the problem.. the car feels a little bit off, but it may just be me.

And no I didn't drop any of the plugs before they were installed.

Blue Dream Jul 1, 2011 10:58 PM

What was the issue the mechanic "fixed"?

I honestly have no idea which really annoys me.. he must of reset the ECU, but he didn't even mention that until I mentioned it.. I think I had a leak somewhere too because when I parked the car.. there was some smoke coming from it and it seemed like it was burning coolant.

I didn't have that many choices because hardly any places said that they had experience working on the G so I just decided to go there because it's my DD and I need it for this weekend.

He went on about some bs about how I didn't have the correct grounding and that something was loose and I was missing some screws here and there.

First.. the wires that he was pointing at was part of a grounding kit that I got so those shouldn't have an effect on my issue.. yeah something was probably loose.. so they fixed that.. and yeah I was missing a few screws, but so what.. that doesn't mean much at all either.. which reminds me.. I totally forgot to screw on like a bracket or 2 before I put everything back on my car when I got home.

He charged me $120 -___-.. didn't argue because they spent like 2 and a half hours working on it, but I felt like I should of said something. Felt like I got robbed :(.. kinda ruined my day lol
