Yesterday I did an oil change and replaced the OE accessory belts. Then I took it for a drive to make sure I had done the work right. Today I installed an iSimple iPod adapter. Of course I had to take a drive to make sure the work was done right. Tomorrow I hope to hard wire my V1. Yep, you guessed it. I'll have to take a drive to make sure the work was done right.

X02 (hks replica) exhaust. M2 test pipes and 370z cerakote heat treatment exhaust manifolds.
X02 exhaust was extensively modified. One thing that sucks about these rep is they are 2.5 OD and not ID. ID is 2.37 +or - .05. We took the fake H pipe and drilled the exact 1.5 ID size and rewelded. Where the resonators ( which also sucked in design) resided, we installed a summit racing 2.5 ( # 643125) and had to mod it too. Center to center was 4.5 on the summit and the X02 was 4.25 + or - .100. And then I decided to checkout the Helmholtz chambers too. No one has ever attempted to check if its true or not. ( I had pictures but lost them when I switch phones) the openings for the helmholtz were small .5" x whatever squares . WTF so we grind them out to the proper ID which i believe was either 2" or 2 1/8". So thats it.... spent 125 for the used system... 60.00 for x pipe and my brothers welding skills.

Definitely a much better system now. Absolutely no drone at all.

I only attempted this in a way to improve a relatively cheap exhaust system. The sound and gain was a nice improvement. Touching up just the H pipe and helmholtz chambers by making them true gives a nice low rpm rumble just like old school muscle cars did as anticipated. But revving up to 4k+ was really rasppy and thats when I researched and bought the summit piece instead of the magnaflow x pipe. My findings is that most owners that have this exhaust system complain about heavy droning comes from the poor inlet to the Helmholtz chambers. Basically the HKS knockoff are true dual exhaust system with no scavenging or pulse equalization ( why it drones so bad).

LOL. close but not the same. Pride exhaust system is truly engineering and workmanship.

X02 (HKS REP) is how it should sound from the get go.

Haha, man, I know it's in the shop, but its amazing what some mismatching rims and Bondo/primer will do to make a nice car look like a total hunk of junk. Looking forward to its restoration.
