trans cooler help needed - YOUR INPUT WANTED

right now, in my 05 auto, i'm unable to run the trans fluid lines to the radiator so i'm thinking of putting in an aftermarket trans cooler to do the job. would it be ok to bypass the radiator and run the tranny fluid directly through an aftermarket unit and recirculate back into the trans? i've found one that's approx 10"x15"x1". would that do a sufficient job of cooling the fluid if i mounted the cooler in front of the radiator? also, i've seen smaller versions of the coolers and have thought of using 2 smaller cooling units, one mounted on each side in front of the radiator. i know many people upgrade their trans coolers. i'm just wondering if i'll be ok bypassing the radiator. any input is appreciated. if any of you have any pics or ideas of where to mount the tranny cooler please share.

Yes if you get a good cooler and locate it properly, you can bypass the stock cooler. Check out the coolers by Derale, they are the best bang for the buck!

if you go with a standalone cooler, consider getting a trans cooler with a fan on a switch. when you're in a warm environment and/or find yourself stuck in traffic a lot, there's nothing to keep your ATF temps from climbing higher when you aren't moving (in the OEM setup, the radiator and fans provide cooling in this situation).
