Buying used G - Computer mpg question

So i'm in the market for a used G. Found one. Went to look at it and it looks in pretty good shape. Not perfect, but it was definitely well maintained, and has records. One thing i was wondering about. The car is a 2007 g35 sedan (not the awd)

When i looked at the cars dash mpg, as well as the computer mpg it says the car has averaged only 15.3 mpg on it. Should i be worried about this?

I have read about the ecu reset and such and i'm assuming this owner never did one. (He is the original owner). My brother has a 2008 awd and his computer says he averages at least 18mpg. Why such a big difference? Is there something i may be missing?

I really want to buy this car, but the dash mpg reading makes me feel like something else is off. Or am i reading too much into it.

I would change out the filter for a K&N drop in and see if that helps. If not much changed then try out the ECU reset, wont hurt to try that out. G are not very gas friendly :dunno:

Really depends on how the previous owner drives. I have a 2006 G35 coupe with the 6 speed manual and around city the mileage is pretty bad, usually between 12-14 if I'm lucky. But on the highway I get between 22-25 cruising around 70-80. I still have to do a tune up on the car since it has 112k miles and I'm sure the plugs were not changed by the previous owner.

Since he's looking at an 07 sedan the car'll have 2 intakes so he'll need 2 K&N's lol.....

Or more likely double the fuel consumption...............

The strength of the G lies not in the gas mileage grasshopper but in the fun factor........:D

Must..........not.........floor...........it...... ......

You are reading too much into it

I had a 2006 G35 6 speed purchased new and driven 171796 miles. The computer was reset at every fillup. Many times the computer was very close to the actual math calculation of miles driven divided by gallons to fill-up. That is the only accurate method of calculating MPG.

Four fill-ups from NJ to Florida. Two fill-ups of local Florida driving and four fill-ups on the return on my current G37S
